Happy To Repeat

I adore this outfit! It's fun, feminine, comfortable and very me!
I don't repeat my outfits much lately, but I know that this one will be on repeat when the mood strikes me.
"What's that about not repeating?" - I hear you asking.
"We don't have so much clothes!" - I hear you saying.
Do get me right: you don't need a bottomless wardrobe to come up with new combinations! I don't have one, though I'll admit that I do have plenty of pieces to mix and match. It's just always much more interesting to create vs. to go with routine. I used to have sort of personal uniforms - I would fall in love with a few outfits and repeat them over and over again, while some clothes would just hang there without much use. I do it very differently these days. And it's really fun and easy - just add new accessories, change shoes or purse, use different nail polish to bring out another color of that colorful shirt, change that shirt, add a scarf - and before you know it you've got yourself a new look!

Happy facts:

- I finally found the skirt which I thought was gone (I gained a little more weight since I bought this skirt and tried to give it away, I do remember that, the next thing I know - I couldn't find it anywhere). I love it, love it, love it! It has such a beautiful twirl! This is the one I wrote about in this post when I tried to come up with a 30s inspired look;

- the shirt was found at Goodwill for $3.99, but it seemed such a small size (probably 2 sizes smaller than I usually wear). I bravely decided to give it a go just because the fabric was very stretchy, and I loved the style and colors. It fits me comfortably, though again - if I was shopping in a regular store, I'd probably never even have seen it because I don't look at racks of smaller sizes (I'd spend DAYS shopping then). I love the 70s feel of the shirt's design. And it's in my colors - love burnt orange, olive green and warm brown together. I know it will have a lot of wear! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention - when I rang it at the register, it happened to be only $1.29! It's in a perfect condition, and great quality, though the maker is unknown - no tags on it.

The wooden earrings are by the Crimean artist Vladimir Levestam, bought in a gift shop somewhere in Ohio - I wore them here with my fiery ruana.

The new piece is this amazing boho style denim vest (yep, my first denim vest ever - you got it!) by Chico's which I fell in love with when I first saw it online, but the price bit me - $119. I later bought it for under $30 - a happy combination of a sale, a coupon and a passport member discount (free shipping as well). Love it! It's still on a fantastic sale here! Chico's is considered a brand for "older women" - I couldn't care less. I have been buying their styles since I was in my early 30s. They have a great sense of funky and elegant - just right for me! I love their fit (at least, it works for my body) and quality. And their sales are just the best, I rarely pay more than $30 for the stuff which regularly costs between $100 and $150.

The Ecco sandals are last year's purchase via Nordstrom Rack, another great store to buy good quality for very affordable prices. I first wore them here with my red jeans and a watercolor poncho style blouse.

So what about yourself - to repeat or not to repeat? 'Cause you know - that is the question!

Skirt - bought in a boutique in Gig Harbor, WA years ago (6 or 7). Shirt - via Goodwill. Vest - Chico's (still on great sale here, sizes US 8 to 18). Sandals - Ecco via Nordstrom Rack. Earrings - Levestam (Crimea). Purse - Cole Haan, years ago at TJ MAXX.

I am linking up with:
(both the skirt and the shirt are smaller than my usual size - though due to stretch, feel comfy!)

- Bella's Secondhand First (thrifted shirt - $1.29, my own old skirt and jewelry - shop your closet!)

- Sheila's Shoeshine (love my sandals!)

    1. Thank you, Elsie! This is the world premier of this outfit - it has been JUST invented a couple of days ago. :) But it will be on repeat, I know it - casual cuteness! :) xxx

  2. This is a fantastic outfit and I can see how happy you are in it! I love that skirt too and if it were mine I know it would be my favourite. And I envy that vest. I am always hunting for a denim vest in the thrift shops but no luck so far. I did get a black cordury vest that I will need to have tailored to fit me better. These colours are so great with your hair and I love olive green too, and find it so versatile. It's interesting that you say these colours are really you, because they are more earthy and a bit subdued compared to the bright colours I am used to seeing you in. I think everything you wear looks great on you but your comfort and happiness in this outfit is really shining!
    Hugses!

    1. Thank you, Shawna! The vest is only 25 bucks on sale now - practically a thrift shop price, don't miss it! :)

I used to wear colors like these much more, and they reflect a huge part of me. I used to shy away from bright when I was younger, though still had a few pieces in bright red, yellow etc. They are also a huge part of me - and this part is coming out of shadow lately. We are very complex creatures, aren't we? There is no color I don't like. Not even beige. :)

      Love and hugses

  3. Oh Natalia!
What a fabulous find, 129 pennies for that skirt!!~!
I love that embroidered denim vest, and the whole color scheme of this fab ensemble.
This is an outfit that deserves as much time in the spotlight as possible!
I find I don't repeat outfits, exactly: i will add a different shoe or necklace, and even if it is the exact same, I am not, nor is the weather, so it looks in the wind, stronger sun, etc.

Love this post. I do agree these warm colors suit you so!

  7. I think if you have an outfit you love, of course you repeat it! I would wear that skirt and vest in all kinds of ways.

I always used to have about 10 outfits that I would just repeat for work. Now (since I've been reading blogs!) I have so many interchangeable pieces that it seems I never really repeat anything completely.

  8. Very much your style is this outfit. The skirt , the vest, the colors! I don't repeat outfits byt I try to repeat pieces but style them differently. this way I use my creativity and I repeat most of my pieces. I don't like the all the time new clothes approach. I want to repeat some basic pieces because it grounds my style and other people can relate to my style if i repeat pieces and not whole outfits. I hope you make sense! Thank you for all your thoughtful comments!

    1. Yep, that's what I mean too - repeat the pieces, so they don't just hang there lonely. :) xxx

  9. Well, I love every piece here, each one is very you, and all together, it's a perfectly Natalia outfit! The new denim waistcoat is fabulous, and I am in love with those sandals. I do repeat - certain pieces I always seem to wear together - but I mix it up too. Nothing wrong with repeating - if you feel and look great, then it's clearly a winning combination! xxx

  10. Love the swishy skirt and the denim waistcoat and what a bargain the top was.

I repeat my outfits all the time - I work between three different offices so that gives me lots of scope to repeat my work outfits as I don't see the same people in each location . . .I can get very lazy.

    1. That's what I used to do too, Jayne - and I did not even think twice about it. Now creating outfits brings me the most joy! But I can see that my creativity will move to another direction, and then I will probably mostly repeat my outfits. Fashion does not ALWAYS fascinate me. xxxx

  11. I like that lace detailing on the vest. This is a wonderfully styled outfit...very nicely done!! I'm debating on doing another 30 for 30 remix because like you say, mixing and matching to create new looks is fun. Debbie @ ilovemylemonadelife.com
