I found myself in an organizing mood lately.
I reorganized the labels in my blog - deleted a few which stopped being relevant and added a few which I thought would help. For instance, now I can search all my outfits by color, type of pattern (polka dot, stripes, tribal/geo) or by different feel (folk/ethnic, retro/vintage). I really like it because now I can do a quick search and see what green or gold/yellow items I have and how I styled them previously. It gives me new ideas and helps to remember.
I also reorganized my closet yesterday. At first, I though I'd get rid of a huge pile of Spring/Summer stuff. But then I decided to pack pretty much all of it in a couple of large containers which sit under my bed and see how I feel about it when Spring comes. There is a big chance that I will miss my Spring/Summer clothes and be glad that I did not donate all of them in a rush.
Because that's exactly what happened with my Fall/Winter wardrobe. As soon as I got it out of those storage containers, I was so happy to see old friends. I will play with them, introduce them to some new friends, and new exciting friendships will be born.
I love Fall for the opportunity to wear jackets. I have quite a few jackets I am eager to wear in the new season. Some of which I even forgot that I own - like this beautiful velvety/corduroy fitted blazer from Lane Bryant last F/W collection. I showed it on the blog before - HERE, HERE and HERE, though I don't think those were particularly good combinations. I like the proportions I created this time much better. I could skip the sweater (it seemed so chilly in the morning, but then got warmer). The skirt was purchased this Summer, but even though it's a very light fabric, the colors remind me of Autumn. I only wore it once in the Summer, then decided to wait for cooler weather. So it is sort of a transitional outfit, with both Summer and Fall pieces.
I picked linen/burlap and wooden accessories for this folk-inspired outfit. Jewelry made by a Crimean designer Vladimir Loewestamm. And while you are admiring the wooden jewelry, look at the cute wooden earrings Oksana made HERE.
We live only a few minutes away from the Tacoma Port (which is considered among the busiest in America), and often pass this gorgeous view on the way home. There are plenty of little pull-offs for taking photos or just enjoying the view of the port and Mount Rainier in the background. Which we did yesterday. Just a few minutes before the sunset.
Blazer, sweater and cami underneath - Lane Bryant (last year)
Skirt - Christopher and Banks (Summer sale)
Shoes - Toms via Nordstrom Rack
Wooden jewelry - from Crimea (old)
Linen purse - boutique (old)

This deep maroon looks beautiful on you! You are the master of folklore. You are a smart woman. I've been thinking of revamping and reorganizing my blog. But I'm so heavy into getting my son prepared for college next year that it keeps getting pushed aside. I know what you mean about seeing your old friends when your wardrobe switches seasons. I love that feeling. It's as if you've gone shopping again :)
ReplyDeleteMaroon is a great word for this color, thank you! I was not sure what to call it. :)
DeleteGood luck with the college stuff! Blog can wait. :) xxx
You are looking so autumnal, why you have the most beautiful warm glow in these pictures. I like the cooler weather better for my wardroube I too own a ton of jackets, why I was just playing with a n old leopard cape that is dying to be worn. Here's yo packing away stuff to rediscover it later, it will feel new again!
ReplyDeleteXxoo
I'd love to see that leo cape! I need one too! :) xxx
DeleteWhat gorgeous colours and the lighting is perfect! I love the hippy skirt with the plimsolls and blazer, such a cool look.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of colder weather but I do like getting my vintage cape out! x
Wonderful photos of an wonderful fall-colored outfit! All is so matching with the wooden jewelry...
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I like it too, find old friends again and refresh our friedship (it's hard, clothing give in a bag for the charity-organization), like to style old clothings new...
Have a great new week :-)
It is always a great joy to rediscover old friends in the wardrobe and renew their acquaintance. This is a great Autumn outfit and the colours perfect on you. Enjoy the change of seasons and rediscovering your jackets.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed the views in the Tacoma area too. A few years back I was in a large scooter club and we'd take long rides around the area. I discovered all kinds of places I never knew existed along the way. There are great back roads and sound views between here and Tacoma for sure.
ReplyDeleteLove the lighting in these photos. Warm and glowing like Krista said. I especially love your jacket in this outfit.
i still have the winter clothes packed away....
ReplyDeletebut your warm autumn leaf palette here is very inspiring. mount rainier sound a bit like rainer - my hubs!
:-)
The light in these photos is exquisite, so warm and soft. The image of you in close-up with your eyes closed is just dreamy - taken by someone who loves you, I think!
ReplyDeleteThe colours here are inspired, Natalia, and I love the floaty skirt with the fitted jacket. Just gorgeous! xxx
What beautiful autumnal photographs! glorious rich colours and beautiful textures, I love how you are dressed with the wonderful colours in the background, perfect! and yes, it does seem to be a time to organise, I too have taken clothes out of my wardrobe today and like you I love the seasonal reunion of garments x x x
ReplyDeleteThe lighting in these photos is really golden and magical! I love the colours in your outfit and they are definitely among your best colours. You can wear them any time of year but I like the idea of that skirt being a transitional one. The wooden jewelry is gorgeous and really suits you and the outfit. You are such a master of accessories!
ReplyDeleteI too love autumn for the opportunity to wear sweaters and jackets and layers, though I don't go out much so I don't get the opportunity often. I look forward to a time when perhaps I can go out more. Perhaps I should just put on my best
duds and walk around the block treating the neighbours to the view. ;-)
Happy Autumn and loads of hugses!
xoxoxo
loooooove the purse!!!
ReplyDeleteoh, and the backdrop is so wonderful! you look great!
Mt. Ranier in the background - wow! Love this early Autumn look, esp that fab flowy skirt and wood necklace. Thanks for sharing it all with Visible Monday, xo.
ReplyDeleteYou are the colours of beautiful autumn leaves, gorgeous! Great bag too. My labels are completely wonky. I'm afraid there's no help for that.
ReplyDeleteI'm stunned by the glorious light in these photos and how they make your outfit sparkle like gold dust. I too love the change of seasons, especially going from the heat into the cooler days as they are quite rare here in Queensland. I don't get all excited when spring arrives because it gets hot so quickly and like you, I adore jackets. xox
ReplyDeletePerfect outfit! Absolutely my style too including wooden jewelry. I have similar blazer in exact same colour in my closet:))) I love the skirt.
ReplyDeleteI checked out your other combinations with blazer and this one is my favourite.
The changes you made are very well thought. I went thru whole folk/ethnic section and now I will be dreaming of this gorgeous platok you showed! I want it soooo badly. Perfect pattern, colour and size:)
I'm a hamster type when it comes to like almost anything and I just couldn't let my Spring/Summer clothes go especially that I wear them all year long:)) I think I get horribly attached:) Anyways, once again I must say that I love your style. xxx
Thank you so much my far away friend! Such a kind thoughtful comment.
DeleteI only started coming back into style/fashion (more style than fashion, but I also like being aware of what's up-to-date even if I choose not to be terribly trendy myself) one year ago, or to be exact about 14-15 months ago, it all started last Summer, with a few "trips" into style world last Spring. I only knew a couple of style blogs and checked them out quite irregularly before last year. I decided to learn again how to look good in my 40s and with a dramatically changed body, and how to express who I am on the inside through my style. I must say I am still learning, and probably will never stop learning, but as I went through my blog while working on my labeling system, I realized that I learned TONS of stuff -- not only about fashion, but about myself too. I am so happy now that I started all this process, You can't imagine what it took to begin...
But I never dreamed when I started this blog that I would meet so many absolutely wonderful, talented, free-spirited and supportive blogging friends - like yourself! And for that, I am the most grateful. Tons of love and folk inspirations! xxx
You know I am also a hamster type (it seems all my family are hamsters - Justin, Anna and me). I don't know how to separate with what you once loved and why would I want to do that. :)
DeleteIt's totally amazing how blogging helps to meet people from all over the world:)
DeleteIn general I'm not the greatest fan of fashion blogs because most of them seem to be going for posts with pictures only, no content really, and simply striped of personality, you know what I mean?
I love to visit your blog because not only do you know how to dress well, but also reading your posts is interesting, lets to know you better and you just build this great ambient. I see you as a warm, gentle, open person and I feel a lot of positive energy coming from your words. Your style is fabulous, even if you just started creating it recently. You are very inspiring. xxx
Thank you! :) And yes, I know what you mean. I also go for personalities first. Though I have to say there are a few bloggers so talented visually, that I don't care for the lack of writing. It's like you have all this rich visual information - it's art in itself.
DeleteYou're smart to keep your clothes until the corresponding season rolls around. I do the same thing, because I find I can be more objective about what I want to continue to wear after I've had six months or so to think about it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you kept that jacket! It's really flattering on you, as is the skirt. Glad for the head shot too, because you're a very pretty lady.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you'll come back often.

Thank you, Alicia, for your very sweet kind comment! I've just added you blog to my radar! :) xxxx
DeleteThat's a great idea - I will add "favorites" label! :) Thank you, Marlen! xxx
ReplyDeleteHello, Beauty! More hits in this lovely fall outfit. Such pretty pieces, and a great total look. Beautiful velvet! I'm hanging on to my summer sleeveless pieces well into early winter so I can get away with jackets at the restaurant. I've especially taken to wearing an overcoat with the jacket, but as a cape ... so handy. Lovely you, always.
