A couple of months ago, I shared pictures of two dresses on my FB page, mentioning that at that point I liked them both equally, though I purchased only one, and at the time of ordering I had a very strong preference. The intriguing part of my story was that I couldn't remember which one of the two dresses I picked.

I was curious to know what dress my friends would pick for me, and they suggested the teal one. While I agree that teal/rust color combination compliments my complexion, I was happy to discover that I purchased the black dress instead. It has plenty of teal as well, and I find the black/teal combination very appealing and just a tad dramatic. I think it has a little more potential, although both fabrics are lovely.
It was a usual rainy day here by Puget Sound. We tried to take pictures both outdoor and indoor, and even though the low light doesn't show the colors and details in all their glory, I still liked the indoor photos better. I think they have a softer, more artistic feel I'm going for. Besides, I have to remember that rain is not my camera's best friend. We took a ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island where we enjoyed a stroll in pretty downtown, visiting cute independent little shops and having dinner before it was time to head back. Bainbridge is one of our most favorite places, and it feels rather like home. Rain or shine - it's always a joy to return there.

Tina, we love this area so much! We just keep exploring, and there are always new undiscovered layers to it.
Deletetotally fabulous!! and you have the perfect earrings for!!
ReplyDeletei would have difficulties too to pick only one fabric, only one dress. very cool design! you look very sweet and romantic in it <3
going by ship on a trip - big or small - is my most fav way! short followed by train......
huge hugs! xxxxxx
Thank you, Beate! I agree! Would be even better to have both. :)
DeleteBoth dresses are gorgeous, but the teal one was really amazing.

It would be hard to go wrong with either of them! :)
DeleteI have added the Bainbridge Island ferry trip to next summer's itinerary. Would love to explore the little town with indy shops. I think your teal floral dress is lovely and contrasts so well with the yellow walls of the boat--beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteMarea, I thought of you. I would recommend from all my heart to visit Bainbridge! It's a very artistic and spiritual place. They have artist studio tours some time in Summer. Great art museum too (admission is free). Another fantastic little town is Port Townsend - it would be about 1 hour from BI.
DeleteLove the black dress Natalia , it is also my favorite! There is more floral on it and the black is easier to style. you look so pretty is this dress, and it so so versatile. I like the shot on the ferry, and the visit to a charming town, exploring small independent stores, and a dinner out, sounds like the perfect day.
ReplyDeleteLove the earrings, and the photo is excellent too, moody due to of the weather!

"Moody" is a great word for this sort of weather. :) Thank you, Elle!
DeleteSo funny: I was just trying to decide if I should get the teal and rust one. Yet again, we have similar taste. Either would look wonderful on you. This one surely does, especially in the foggy weather.
ReplyDeleteI've never bought anything from eShakti as I find their selection overwhelming. How do I even begin to choose? Do you give them your specific measurements or order a set size? Usually, my waist measurement requires a size a tad too big for my bust so I guess I should go with measurements.

Thank you, Charlotte! Get it - it's good quality and really lovely, you will enjoy wearing it I think.
DeleteAs for sizing, I tried both, and both work for me. If the fabric has no stretch (as in this case), it is especially important to choose the right waist measurement for me too. Some styles are more forgiving, but with this dress I would recommend going for your correct bust and waist measurements.
lovely dress, and I agree that it has lots of teal in it, so it's not very dark at all!, I think it fits you like a dream, it has so beautiful colors, and you've enhanced it with some pretty bijouterie too!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures in the boat!
besos
Thank you so much, Monica! I think I'd be happy with either of them, but black got my heart when I ordered! :)
DeleteI'm glad the black dress was the one you chose, it was my favourite! It was a lot more dramatic and had a real 1970s vibe and, most importantly, it looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteNext to train journeys, boat rides come a close second. xxx
Thank you, dear! I've traveled by trains A LOT when I lived in Russia. Long, long travels - a few days one way. :) It's a good way to see a country. Boats are more exotic to me since I grew up "in the middle of nowhere", and it was far away from any sea... But we did have rivers, and I remember loving taking a boat ride to my grandmother's village - it was 5-6 hours up the river!
DeleteI'm a big fan of ferry rides. The day before yesterday I decided to visit my grandmother, so I took a ferry ride to island Hvar and back. Unfortunately, there are only two ferry rides a day so my stay with my grandmother was rather short. But seeing her was great, so no complaints. I could take a ferry ride every day- in fact, I did commute that way this Summer. I never get sea sickness, I love the sea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dress this is! I'm glad to hear you're happy with it. You look very feminine and pretty dear.
I completely understand, Ivana - ferry ride would be my favorite way to work as well! Seattle and vicinity are built around quite a complicated body of water, so thousands of people take ferries to work here too!
