Six She-roes from around the Globe

VIX of the VINTAGE VIXEN blog (England)

At the first glance, you will not find much in common between these wonderfully unique women bloggers, most of whom I was delighted to "meet" years ago (only with Ann we connected relatively recently, a few months ago, but I already feel like I've known her for ages!). If you look at all these photos at once, it's like a colorful kaleidoscope - and that same feeling I get when I visit their blogs too. But if you look closer, you'll realize that they share a love of color, good design, fun and thoughtful accessories, slow fashion and often vintage and/or secondhand clothes. And another thing they have in common is that each of them has her own, unique, truly individual and absolutely unrepeatable sense of style.

ANN of the POLYESTER PRINCESS blog (Belgium)

What I see in these women, and what I know you see in them if you read their blogs, or I'm sure you will see if you aren't familiar with them just yet, is their inner beauty that shines through everything - the beautiful and quirky clothes and most creative outfits they wear; the wise, encouraging, kind words they write in their blogs and in countless comments left on other women's blogs; and their lovely, beautiful, inspired faces.

BEATE of the BHANWAERTERHAUESCHEN blog (Germany)

That is what I see in them above everything else - the beauty of their spirit. It takes a lot of courage and inner strength to walk away from the beaten path, and instead to pick one's own path, unique and unpredictable, not the one that is easy to define by a "norm". They chose to discover what it means to be themselves, to be uniquely them - a one-of-a-kind Vix, a one-of-a-kind Beate, a one-of-a-kind Ann, a one-of-a-kind Jill, a one-of-a-kind Monica and a one-of-a-kind Sacramento. Not what anyone expects them to be, at any given age, or in any given circumstance, but what it means to be genuinely them, at any given moment. There are many ways to do that, of course - these women discover and express themselves through their style, but this kind of self-discovery, once you started the journey, is not limited to just one thing, but affects each and every aspect of your life. I think it is fair to say that if you learned how to be brave in one life aspect, you will most probably not stop at it.

Once you've tasted the inner freedom to be yourself, no matter what anyone thinks, you will want to live freely all the time.

JILL of the GROWNUP GLAMOUR blog (Tasmania, Australia)

But self-discovery is not a one-and-done kind of a thing. It is a series of everyday choices that we make, some of which can be quite dramatic, while others are quiet and invisible, but nonetheless these personal choices are brave because they force you to think for yourself and believe in what is not written anywhere, not in the sky, and not in any of the books on earth. The conscious choice to believe in what makes sense to your inner self, when there is absolutely no guarantee that you are "right", that you will find "approval" from others, is called Vision.

MONICA of the SENORA ALLNUT blog (Spain)

Bracelets that Monica made herself out of papier-mâché. Aren't they absolutely gorgeous?

You all are incredibly courageous and beautiful, true Visionaries, dear ladies. I admire you and learn from you, I feel inspired by you and I adore you with all my heart. Knowing that somewhere there you put on a fun and always extraordinary outfit and go on your daily life, brightens my day, every day, since I got to know you.

SACRAMENTO of the MIS PAPELICOS blog (Spain)

There is great love for you!

  4. What a totally wonderful post, Natalia, and I can't tell you how honoured I am to be included in your list, especially as we've only known each other a couple of months. Your other She-roes (love the word) are all dyed in the wool bloggers too, while I've just been blogging for little over a year. This has really touched me and obviously it's made my day. You are an inspiration to me too, and would definitely feature in MY list of She-roes! Lots of love and a huge huge hug xxxx
