On The Edge

Thank you for your kind comments to my previous post and your recognition of Anya's photography! Yesterday was not the first time when I posted her pictures of me, though. You can see more of her photos in this post: BOLD. I decided to re-post it for one simple reason. Anne The Spy Girl has a new topic at her 52 Pick-Me-Up this week, which is Go Geometrical. It resonates with me - I love bold geometrical patterns and could add even more of my old posts to her link-up (stripes are geometrical, aren't they? I wear quite a few of those!).

But there is something else to this post...

I have just learned that Anne is going on a fun adventure around the U.S. border. I am sure many of you know it already, but if you, just like me, didn't know, then HERE is where you can learn about her "On The Edge: US" project. You can choose to support Anne's campaign and receive an artistic perk of your choice. I am very excited for Anne. Travel is something I'd love to do more of. We took a road trip across the U.S. 7 years ago - it took us 9 days to get from the southern Ohio to the West Coast where we live now (traveling with a 4 year old, we took it easy and made a few side trips to see gorgeous national parks). It was an unforgettable experience!

Here are just a few pictures of our trip to the famous Yellowstone National Park.

There are so many wonderful memories in these photos! I wrote 9 short essays (one essay for each day of the road trip), you can read them HERE if you understand Russian. Or you can use Google translate (which is not a perfect tool, but still usable), or just look at the pictures. Enjoy!

How about you? Would you be up to such an adventure yourself?

  1. You are really on trend in all your black and white.

I love how your shoes and bag are similar colours that are so unusual to pair with black and white.

I cannot believe you got a photo of a buffalo on the road! LOL

    1. Oh buffaloes are so at home at the Yellowstone! There is a photo somewhere in my archives of them just laying in the middle of the road. We definitely felt like just visitors there! :)

Black and white prints resonate with me, and I loved the idea of pairing these prints with my tribal orange clutch, those prints are almost identical. I loved to play with the scale here to. The shoes are actually nude color, but you are right - they kind of look peachy here. I suppose they pick up from the clutch which also has a natural straw color. :) Thank you for your fun comment!

  2. Love the monochrome outfit and the geometric prints, you look so stylish, Natasha (I'm going with Natasha because I feel we are friends, is that OK?!)
Your trip looks amazing, that first photo is just stunning. What wonderful scenery and huge blue skies, and the buffalo ambling down the road is fabulous! Would I like to do something like this? Hell, yes! If only! xxx

    1. By all means, do call me Natasha! Natalia is a pretty name, but sound a bit formal, doesn't it? Natasha is softer and friendlier. And yes, we ARE friends! :)

I guess you understand the longing for the high blue sky like no one else in the world. Too much grayness sometimes. I am so ready for Summer!! Wouldn't it be fun to do a road trip together? Some day!!! :)

  3. Stupendously stylish outfit from the scarf down to the shoes with everything in between! You definitely are the queen of stripes!
What a fabulous trip and even more so for doing it with a 4 year old. The bison trotting long the road so nonchalantly made my day, I had to call Jon in to look, too.
I'd love to take a trip across the States. I read Cheryl Strayed's book, Wild, about her solo trek across the Pacific Trail earlier this year and loved it. xxx

    1. Oh Vix, thank you for calling me the queen! It's fun to be a queen even for one day! :) I am so thrilled that you liked the outfit. It was inspired and came together in a split second.

Anya was never typical, we used to take her to a symphony at 4 y.o., and to art museums and everywhere else as a baby. She is very easygoing and knows how to entertain herself. :)

The book sounds interesting, I love documentaries. I will check it out!

  7. Your outfit looks fantastic! I love the prints you have mixed together. The road trip must have been so much fun. My ex and I did a road trip across the US back in 1992. We had a whole month to travel and were headed to a wedding in Nova Scotia. I remember how beautiful I thought Wyoming was. A family road trip is such a wonderful experience. I hope you get to do more of them.

    1. A whole month of travel - that sounds fantastic! That is what I would love to do so much some day. Wyoming blew my mind! Talk about wild wild West... I have never seen a night as dark as in Wyoming! And those tiniest villages with the population of 116 people in the middle of nowhere!

  10. Your family is beautiful and you can feel the love radiating out from these pictures. I even see Justin left a comment you guys are pretty adorable. This outfit hugs all your curves just right and then you add all the crazy patterns that pair perfectly, I bet you felt great wearing this because you do.

Thanks for your wonderful comment about what you do when your heart aches. As I watch the rain come come down in sheets I'm thinking hard on that spa day. I also feel like I need more nature in my life when that sun returns:). Enjoy the weekend my dear!
