One Year

In The Writer's Closet, apparently, shares a birthday with Leo Tolstoy - how encouraging. :)
Yep, I posted a couple of my very first posts exactly one year ago (you can say hello HERE and HERE). Time flies! I'd like to celebrate my little blogoversary with probably the last summer dress of this year.

The dress is from Chico's (crazy crazy sale, as always). It may very well be the best summer dress ever - fun, comfy and sexy. The orange accents are my favorite, though I wore this dress with blue/green and with silver accents too. This bead necklace was made for me by one of my coworkers right before I left Russia. I adore it! I don't think I showed it on the blog before.

The earrings are hand-made Turkish copper, a gift from a friend years ago.

This blog has brought so much joy to my life. Quite honestly, I would never have guessed I'd go so far.

THANK YOU for your universal acceptance and encouragement, amazing ladies!
It's so much fun and such an honor to be a part of this very special, very unique, very warm community of women. You are kind, compassionate, brave, bright and beautiful, and also super creative!

And to those readers who only think about beginning their own blog - dive right in! There are no rules other than BE YOURSELF (oh how I love it!), and you have everything you need to make it happen!

I would also like to thank my beloved one, Justin for all the pictures, all the giggles, all the trips and all the love and support, and for holding my hand when I need it. :)

Here's to one wonderful, colorful, filled with light, joy and creativity year of blogging. It is quite a milestone for me, as it's the beginning of my writing in English.

Let us see what's next, shall we?

  1. Oh yes, I am very much looking forward to seeing what's next!
Happy first anniversary, Natalia. Your blog is such a welcome addition to my list of favourites, and you contribute just as much support, friendship, warmth and creativity as you receive. That's how it works, I find - if you are generous with your time and kindness, it comes back to you. Blogging karma!
I love that dress on you, so elegant and stylish. At first, I thought the necklace was an embellishment on the dress, but as am delighted to learn it was handmade as a gift, a beautiful reminder of your home country. Yes, orange works wonderfully well with the monochrome print. And you are looking all luminous and lovely!
Here's to many more years, my friend! xxxx

  2. How in the world did you come up with those neon letters? I read back and tried to find if you mentioned them but couldn't find anything. Aren't they fun?? Love em! That maxi dress swishing along with you is a beautiful thing to wear while you celebrate. I also love the military green jumpsuit you wore a year ago.

Happy Birthday to you! It's fun to share a birthday with a fellow Russian writer I bet. I read a Russian short story which I loved about a man who eats a morsel of bread that was in a display at a museum and he was able to hear the animals at the zoo. He realized they were thinking how foolish humans were. Sound familiar to you? I lost the short story collection and haven't been able to find that particular story since.

Your English is magnificent by the way. I had no idea it wasn't even your second language. ;)

    1. I'm glad you asked! It's from an exhibition at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma - it'll be there till February, very fun!

The story is probably based on a Slavic fairy tale, it's a common motif. But I haven't read this one. :)

You look gorgeous in that dress and those fabulous accessories with such love and meaning to them. I am so glad you are here, making my life just that much better, cheering me on while I stumble around starting a new life. I can still picture you in the first blog post of yours that I saw. You were on the beach and wearing one of your colourful casual outfits-pants from Chicos I suspect! I was in awe of your coordinated nail polish, chic haircut and beautiful smile.
I'l put something nice in my coffee and raise a mug to you, my well loved friend.
