A Stroll by the Lake

It's official. I'm in love. And I'm in love with this dress.
If I had to reduce my entire closet to only one dress, this would be it!

Fortunately for me, I don't have to reduce my closet, although I need to find a good storage solution, because my whole house started looking like a closet lately. While I am working on the solution, allow me to tell you about this dress. It has everything I like in a dress - a beautiful, vivid fabric that flows, a flattering feminine design, and a gorgeous pattern. It is very comfortable to wear with an elastic waist, and it is fully lined. I intend to wear it practically year-round in my mild climate (just add tights and a sweater/jacket in colder season). I think it is festive enough for a special occasion, and modest enough for a casual day. It's a dream!

The dress is by eShakti, and I just can't say enough good words about this company. They found a magic formula for women's happiness. They offer a wide variety of flattering to all body type styles, in a wide range of sizes, and you can even modify a dress to your liking AND have it made to your own measurements - isn't it heaven? I also love that they offer lots of gorgeous prints. They are very affordable and maintaining good quality. Really, if you haven't tried eShakti yet, do so! I'm not even paid to tell you that. I just really am happy that this business came to life - a very smart business. I think they add new styles on a weekly basis, and some designs sell out quickly, so if you see a striking one that you really love - act on it.

I added bright red accessories to pick up some coloring from the dress, and wore my old pair of platform sandals by Sanita, a company that started making clogs ("the original Danish clogs" as they say) in 1907! This pair is very comfortable, and in my opinion, feminine and stylish.

I like dressing up whenever I go out with Justin, even just for a walk in a park. Frankly speaking, I miss seeing dressed up people. I know that here in America, most people dress up only for a special occasion - parties and festive celebrations and such. But I really want to see elegant and stylish looking people everywhere I go. Why not? Dressing up takes a little more time and effort vs. throwing on a pair of comfy jeans, but the gratification is so much more. I have to say that I see many more women in dresses and skirts in the last couple of years than I used to. Maybe things are changing?

  1. i can totally see why you love this dress!!!! it´s really fabulous!!!
beside of the flattering cut the exotic print is just beautiful! and yes - it will transition well with all the different colors in it to pick up for some layering......even with black it would work!
and a lining - although not seen - is a visible feature for the quality of a garment.
i always "dress up" by the measurement of the public - wearing a dress or a skirt with a blouse seem kind of pathetic to a jeans&t-shirt clad human - even if that dress/skirt/blouse is just the "plain" all-day wear of whom who don´t own a pair of jeans and wears jerseys only for sleeping.
and the fairy tale of comfy jeans is just that - nothing is more comfortable then a dirndl skirt with the right measurement at the waistband, the perfect classic length that not goes in the way but is always modest (not that i think about that ever!), two pockets and a durable fabric that suits the season.........
but how comfy has a garment to be? want we sleep in it? if not and if we just walk around, drive in a car, sit at a table - then we can wear easily something more structured then a leisure suit - IMO :-)
    much love to you! xxxxx

    1. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas about styling this dress as well as about comfortable dressing, Beate! I think we all have different preferences for comfort, which is fine - I have no doubt that some people genuinely find jeans both comfy and attractive. I'm just really craving for variety. When you look at a crowd, most of the time it is sameness that gets me. Jeans are OK, nothing wrong with loving jeans, but why always and only jeans when there is so much variety in the world? That is the question. :)

  2. It is a beautiful dress. But a dress is only as beautiful as the woman wearing it is comfortable, and you look very comfortable and at ease in this pretty dress.

At my place people dress all kind of ways. It's a total mix.I have noticed that my favourite baggy pants are more popular this year:)

I love the photos. The little mud turtle resting in the sun is so cute:)

    1. I also love the bold print. I guess it makes sense - the dress is made in India, most probably using Indian fabric.

  7. It is so lovely you enjoy dressing up whenever you go for a walk with Justin. That dress is really lovely and it looks perfect on you. I've also noticed that more women are wearing dresses and skirt, as well as enjoying dressing up and I'm happy to see that. Getting a bit dressed up doesn't really take a lot of time...putting on a dress doesn't take more time than putting on a pair of jeans...and in case of skinny jeans, I think it even takes less time. The comfort is also something that isn't reserved only for those clothes we consider casual.

I must also compliment the photographs. Lovely shots of nature. That turtle is so adorable.

    1. You know, that's what my Mom said when I told her that I see more and more women wearing dresses here in the US. She said, there too! I was so surprised to hear it.
Wearing dresses wasn't at all common when I first moved here in 2002! It wasn't the case here even 2-3 years ago! But it was the case when I lived in Russia - so why and when they changed in these short few years, I wonder? I often don't realize that it is not what we wear in America vs what we wear in Russia - it is what we wear in America vs. what we used to wear in Russia, when I lived there! In the US, women also wore dresses at some point in time. So it's like waves that come and go - and they touch the whole world. I hope we will see more "impractical" (or perceived as such), "uncomfortable" (or perceived as such) clothing - simply because it's more fun! :)
