I ordered this dress from the Chico's website, along with a couple of other things during their big sale, and let Justin wrap the box and put it under our Christmas tree with all the other gifts. So on Christmas Eve, I had a little fashion show. While "other things" did not fit me right (and were returned to the store), this dress got very enthusiastic feedback from my family the minute I showed up in it. At first I had doubts (don't ask), but now when I look at these photos, I just know it's a keeper.
One thing to discuss related to fashion is whether or not to wear these colors typically associated with Autumn in other seasons. I think YES. As long as you love the colors, feel and look great wearing them, then it doesn't matter what the calendar says. It is much more difficult for me to find Summer clothes than cold season clothes (especially Fall) because Summer color schemes of cool colors and whites, don't do much for my complexion, and it seems that most brands go for them. While I try to work cool colors into my wardrobe, I wish there were more rusts, oranges and reds represented in Summer fashion. But the rest of the year, anywhere from early Autumn till Spring, I'm going to wear my favorite spice colors for sure!
Needless to say, the dress is very comfortable and perfect for parties (easy to move in, easy to wash afterwards, etc.). I love the groovy print and playful sleeves. And of course, I have just about a bazillion things that go well with this dress, from accessories to coats. This old wool coat is my very favorite. Unfortunately, it got a little too tight since I gained weight - I still can button it, but it feels too uncomfortable. No worries, we are working on it - there is more walking in my near future.
Once again, I'm wishing you a very happy New Year (insert firework emoji here), my dear friends and readers. Make sure to stop by on the first day of 2017 for our new link-up MODISH MATRONS. And just a reminder: our link-ups stay open for a whole month - so CELEBRATION is open from December 19 till January 19. Do add your posts with festive outfits and/or events. Cheers!
