July in the City //

This linen kimono and trousers set is one of my absolute favorite purchases ever. I bought it back in March, and when the parcel arrived from London, I just couldn't wait for the weather to get warmer. It so happened that I had to wait for almost 2 months! I know it's still only early May, but to me, it's an ultimate summer city outfit, and when we got a couple of summery days (which ended with an unbelievable for this city series of thunderstorm), I was eager to wear it.

It strangely connects me with myself 20 years ago - it's hard to explain, but as I deconstruct this outfit, I can see why it does what it does. There are so many things I've always loved here: linen, orange color, variegated stripes, wide pants, a pant suit, the "concise" Asian-inspired style. And even though it has some very up-to-date details and seems super trendy, it also has a timeless quality, and I think it will be my favorite for years.

I don't always get accessories on point, but this time I really like this little embroidered velvet bag, it seems an inspired choice to me. My comfortable chunky sandals are just right for a day in the city. The ring and earrings are from my collection, about 10 years old.

We were lucky to find this gorgeous location for our photo shoot, with a view of downtown Seattle and Lake Union as a background, and magnificent pre-thunderstorm skies.

I'd wear this outfit practically anywhere, to work and play. Would you wear an outfit like this or does it remind you of jammies too much?

  2. looove linen with woven stripes! it is such a timeless fabric - you can find such all over the world from the beginning of times on. its archaic and elegant at the same moment.
and of cause orange and you - totally fabulous!
and - yes! - it is pajama style - but this style is (and always was) a very cool (not in the sense of temps!) and elegant way to be dressed in warm climates. if i would wear long pants i would sew me endless pajama style suits for summer in linen, silk and cotton.....
the sandals and bag are perfekt with it! whats with your new striped coat - the one from the klimt exhibition? :-)
sending you lots of love! xxxxx
p.s.: i can see the thunderstorm already in the sky behind you!

    1. Your words are balsam to my soul! Yes, that long tapestry coat (by the same company) is perfect for this outfit too! I feel like I am moving away from some elements of my old style towards this - more natural fabrics, simple lines and timelessness.

The thunderstorms were crazy that evening. They are very rare here, don't know why.
