Lighthearted

I would love to finish this month on a lighthearted note. After all, it is the last full Winter month (and the last Winter month for Russians - we believe that the 1st of March is the official beginning of Spring!). I also would love to thank you all for such a wonderful feedback to my blog. It is a joy and honor to be able to connect with you all - beautiful, generous, talented and extremely supportive and positive women who are doing some amazing stuff with their lives! It is both encouraging, empowering and humbling in the best possible way. Thank you! :)

This outfit was born in one short evening. The skirt is from Target (it is only second clothing item I have ever bought from this store for myself I believe). I tried a few black and white skirts, and this one won over my heart. It is striking, sits well, doesn't need ironing (a huuuuge plus for me) and is fully lined! All for $20.

The cardigan is a beauty, isn't it? I spotted it in the shop window on the way from Target, and I knew it would be perfect for my new skirt. The clerk at the shop said they were out of my size - nothing in the store or their backroom. Bummer!
"What about... her?", I asked.
The clerk raised her eyebrows.
"Oh, the mannequin?", she then said rather enthusiastically.
(Not always my meaning, be it my accent or grammar, is understood so easily by the locals.)
As I suspected, the mannequin's cardi fitted me perfectly, and off with the purchase I went.

The scarf was the last minute addition to today's outfit. I thrifted a couple of vibrant scarves at Goodwill, thinking that even if not for wear, they would be splendid as a home decor. At least one of them ended up on my neck as you can see. :)

I thought that this outfit is so contemporary, and so classic, and so retro all at the same time, wouldn't you agree? The lines and colors are very classical, yet black and white, and stripes are very "in" right now. And the touch of pearls and the scarf gives the whole thing such a nostalgic feel! It was just perfect for a stroll with Justin - he got a little break in his busy work day, and I broke out of my own routine. The weather is mild, in low 50s these days, with sun in and out - warm enough for bare legs (unlike a week ago).

I hope you all have a wonderful day wherever you are, my beautiful readers! Enjoy your weekend and remember that Spring is almost here - well, if you join us, the Russian bunch, then just in a couple of days, really!

Skirt - Target. Cardigan and tank top - Lane Bryant. Flats - Born. Stilettos - Sam Edelman. Jewelry - variety of places. Purse - B Makowsky. Scarf is thrifted - $5 at Goodwill

  2. Thank goodness you spotted that cardi on the mannequin, the outfit looks wonderful together, so bold and attention grabbing. Loving your chunky square-ish jewellery and those rock star sunnies, too.

  3. This outfit is inspired, I love it!
For far too long, I accepted all that rubbish about horizontal stripes not being flattering - you just proved how brilliant they look on someone with an hourglass figure, you look so elegant and chic. The warm tones of the scarf, bag and sunglasses just add an extra dimension, I think this might be my favourite outfit of yours yet!
Yes, kick off your heels, Spring's here! xxx

Love your stripes, but then I have a penchant for B+W stripes. The two pieces are a perfect match. Well played!

  5. Being 1/4 Russian, I am going to adopt the March 1st date for the beginning of spring Natalia! I was really surprised to read that this outfit is not a matching set. The sweater and the skirt go together beautifully. It's very flattering on you, and I love the scarf and jewelry too! Great photos, especially the one holding the shoes! Sassy and cute!

  6. So many times one can hear that horizontal stripes make one look larger. And here you are, rocking in this stripy outfit, looking gorgeous. At first I thought it was a dress, such a perfect matching! And of course I noticed that interesting-looking pendant.

    1. Thank you so much, Olga! You have a good eye - you noticed the pendant! I actually plan to talk about this piece of my costume jewelry very soon on my blog!

Stripes are very cool, especially patterns of different widths. I think they actually accentuate all the beautiful parts of body! :)
