Magical

There is a somewhat 60s feel to my orange coat, and I love it! In fact, I love this coat more and more every time I wear it. It probably shows too, because I get compliments all the time. Someone named it "fantastic" today. Somebody else asked where I got it. Many people comment how hard it is to find an orange colored item like this. A conversational piece. If I had to vote for the best clothing purchase of my personal decade, this would be it!

As soon as I heard of the possibility of snow this weekend, I thought I'd add my fur collar to the coat, which made it even more 1960s-70s to me. I also really want to play with textures more in my style adventures. Here, I have wool, cable knit, velveteen, glass, leather, and fur, of course (more outfits with this fur here and here)!

It was a revelation how snow makes orange color pop! Snow does make everything magical, doesn't it? We took a nice stroll around the marina and the town, and both of them looked so charming. It was such a pleasure watching kids playing in the snow too. One little boy, probably no older than three, was so taken with it! He was giggling, laughing and almost chanting to himself: snow, snow, snow... And I thought, 'this must be the very first snow in his little life' - it is the first snow this year (very unusual here for February too - I've never seen snow in February in all of my 7 years here), and last year we didn't have any snow, and two years ago this young chap was still a baby ... he couldn't possibly remember anything from those early days.

I am going to try to do something new today - linking up with these amazing ladies at Patti's Visible Monday. I have never done it before - it feels so exciting! :) Thank you, Ann, for your tip!

Coat - Lands' End. Fur - part of sweater by Michael Kors (old). Cable knit sweater - Territory Ahead (old). Velveteen pants - Chico's. Booties - Aquatalia. Purse - B Makowsky. Ear clips - vintage.

Location: Bainbridge

  1. Hello, Natalia! Nice to "meet" you, too. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. As to you look - I love it! The colour of this coat is amazing, so bright and vibrant. And I like it how it looks with the fur collar. Those green earrings look charming with the orange of the coat. And beautiful snowy photos.

    1. These clip earrings are sooo beautiful, I agree with you. It was an amazing deal too - on sale in the local antique mall for only $5! I would wear them more often, but one of the clips is a bit loose, so I mostly use them for photo shoots. :) Thank you!

I can see why that coat is a favourite; I adore orange, and with the addition of the fur collar, it definitely has a cool vintage vibe. The sunglasses add extra glamour, you look great!

    1. I am happy to see you in my blog, Curtise! That is such a wonderful compliment, and especially coming from you - you are so gifted in creating vintage inspired outfits!

The Pacific Northwest is an amazing place to live. This is our 7th year here, and we are still far from running out of places to explore! Actually, when I first saw your photos, I thought that they might be taken somewhere around Seattle - the climate here is very similar to England. :)

  7. Another great post Natalia! I thought this might be LaConnor, but I see it is Bainbridge Island! Very pretty photos. We didn't get any snow up in Vancouver surprisingly.

    1. Thank you so much, Sue! This was one of our most beautiful photo shoots - and so rare too! Oh, La Conner is an adorable town, one of the most favorite places to visit! I haven't make it to Vancouver yet though! I know it is gorgeous! :)

  8. Very nice to meet you, Natalia. And I hope you enjoy your experience at Visible Monday. No wonder you love your beautiful coat ... you've styled it beautifully, and the color is lovely for you. Not everyone can wear it so well. Pretty with your hair and skin!
Although we live in the South-Central now, it was very hard for both my husband and me to face the move away from Seattle. We loved it there, and I appreciate your photos of the Pacific Northwest. I'm a west coast kid and I miss my part of the world so much. I'm happy to see you enjoying it and decorating the scenery with your stylish self!

    1. Thank you for such a thoughtful and heartwarming comment, Jan! Very nice to meet you too! I am a Siberian kid, and some aspects of the PNW do remind me of my homeland! It is only partly why I love it here. I love everything about living here. The climate is very mild, the nature is gorgeous (and such a wide variety too!), people are very relaxed and friendly. I do wish for a bit more sun in winter though, just a bit! :)

Where did you used to live? We are near the Puget Sound, Tacoma area, but I also love Seattle and absolutely adore Bainbridge.

Thank you for your kindest compliments, Jan! You made me sooo happy! :)

    2. Over a decade, I lived in various parts of Seattle. Never on the islands, but on Queen Anne, south of the University district and in the north end near the Shoreline district. I took my degree at Cornish, and part of my masters at UW. Bainbridge is indeed lovely ... we used to sail our little 27' over for dinner. Those were the days.
We came here to be with elderly parents, and although they're gone we became entrenched! Sad, but someday I'll get back to civilization.
Say hello to my favorite city ... Tacoma is great as well.

    3. Oh, I love all these parts of town! Shoreline has such a great view of Olympics from the beach, and those trains add something to the scenery (love it about Ruston Way as well). UV mall is my favorite place to shop, so I go there from time to time. And Quinn Ann, of course, is so charming and right in the middle of everything. You picked great places to live! And boating to BI for dinner... sounds like a dream!! I wish you to come back soon! We can do Seattle bloggers meet up then! :)

    1. Thank you for your wonderful compliment, Daenel! :) Snow is rare here - this is the first one in 2 years, so I am fine with it. But I do hear you - I love Spring and miss sunny days a lot. I find that hot yoga helps with that. I am serious - it changed everything for me this winter. :)
