A very Happy New Year to each and all of you!
It's my most favorite holiday of all. It's something about childhood - in my home country, it is THE holiday which is widely celebrated as the biggest event of the year. Most of our traditions have pretty much the same flair as Christmas here - no big surprise there, our New Year celebration takes roots from both ancient winter celebrations and Christmas. It's the connection with childhood, that's what makes it so special - brightly decorated tree, lights everywhere, special treats and beloved people by our side. And always, always a feeling of magic and dreaming big dreams. I'll probably spend tomorrow preparing a couple of traditional Russian salads - one with salty herring! sounds yucky doesn't it? ;) - nevertheless, it is one of my most favorite treats. I'll probably watch some favorite Russian winter movies. Then I'll dress up, say thanks to 2015 and welcome the New Year.
Earlier today, I went for a walk with Justin - it's sunny and cold here, but I wanted to dress up, so I did. On a whim, while walking, I recorded a video message to you. I want you to know how much your friendship and your kind comments mean to me. You've been helping me to be more creative and open, to be braver and even a little more eccentric in my sartorial choices. You encourage me to be more me, and that's the best gift anyone can ever give. Thank you for it!
I love this cropped sweater with exaggerated long sleeves and wild fringed collar. Isn't it fantastic? I'm not sure you can see it on these photos, but it also has a wonderful mix of hues and even sparkly golden thread in it.
I think it will look great with any high wasted pants or skirts, and maybe even over dresses. Don't worry about a round tummy if you've got one like I have - when you pair a cropped top with the right bottom, it will look flattering on you.
I went a little crazy with fringes and animal print - it feels great to be playful!
Sorry for the sound of wind in the video - well, it was windy out. :) I hope you'll be able to hear better this time.
Happy New Year!!!

On the close up picture, I see hat you mean about the gold flecks. I used to have a couple cropped little sweaterlet type things I used to dress up tee shirts and skirts. I a really not sure what became of them, but you are right, with the right bottom, the crop works for us rounded tummy gals. Nice to hear your voice!
ReplyDeleteLove you tooooooo!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous lighting and snowy mountain.
You look all snuggly in your furs and fringes.
I'm so glad you came back and we can help each other be more adventurous. I see it more and more in your dress.

Natalia, you look enchanting. The mix of hues and textures all meld together and create such a lovely story. It's fun to get dressed up just because. I'm sure Justin walked with his chest poked out - having such a beautiful woman on his arm.

Happy New Year:) Your sweater is so great and it's great to hear your voice! Herring salad does not sound yuck to me at all on the contrary, I really like all kinds of herring salads:)
ReplyDeleteOh Natalia, what a poignant and joyful video. And how lovely to hear your voice. I know this is going to sound like tosh but honestly, it was exactly as I imagined it to be! And your English clunky? No! Your English is far from clunky - it's more fluid than most English speakers!
ReplyDeleteI love herring dishes - they are also quite traditional in Dutch cuisine too.
Great sweater and that leopard print coat casually slung across your shoulders just finishes the outfit off.
Much love and happiness to you in 2016.
