Snow makes a rare appearance here by the Sound, so rare that every time it's a festive event on its own. I can't say I miss seeing snow (especially having snowy mountains as a magnificent backdrop year round), but whenever I see it, it brings my inner child out to play.
This time, I played with my Goodwill find - a genuine vintage item, Frank Usher skirt (made in England, most probably in the 1970s). It got along pretty well with my new sweater, furry vest, tall boots and red floppy hat.
It was fun to watch people's reaction to this outfit today. In the land of blue jeans and black sweatshirts, I think it's not easy for some folks to make sense out of my little extravagance. Some folks just glaze over as if I was a tree distracting their view or an unexpected bump in the road. Others smile. :)
Write and Link friends,
I'm considering restarting my creative writing link-up, Write and Link (writing a short story, linking up once a month). We can simply pick up where we stopped last time. The phrase for January writing is "Do you believe in magic?"
Is anyone interested in joining in?

ReplyDeleteYay!! Let's do it. See your story on the 26th or the following week, as always. I'm excited!
DeleteAhh it is an ikea candle :)) In Mannheim, Germany is just rain :(
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is wonderfull. You look amazing in this Outfit with this boots and your hat. Sooo much better than jeans and black Sweatshirt, I Mean.
Wish you a lot of fun with the snow, have a nice day, kisses Tina
The candle was the last minute touch, it seemed perfect! :)
Deletenatasha - this is a very beautiful, elegant bohemian ensemble!!
ReplyDeletewhite sweaters rule!! ;-)
despite my thinking that my sweater is not doing me favors shapewise - that thing starts to grow on me! and i love that i do not need a overcoat when we go out with the automobile :-)
we had some snow on new years eve - it still lies in shady places. maybe if i had your gorgeous snowy mountains i would´t long that hard for some real winter weather - i could just drive up hill to go skiing year round!
hugs&kisses!!
I'm pretty sure I was inspired by you, Beate!
DeleteOoooh, I love that skirt - Frank Usher! - what a find! The whole outfit is gorgeous and perfect for a light smattering of snow. I certainly wouldn't glaze over if I saw you in the street. I'd be rushing over and asking where you got that lovely skirt from! Much more interesting that jeans and sweatshirts!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of you smiling in the snow.

Greetings, my dear, from the snowy Pacific Northwest. Loving the change here, and loving how you are layering all those sweaters. Perfection!
ReplyDeleteLooking beautiful in the snow Natalia, no wonder you were noticed in that gorgeous outfit. Both the skirt and sweaters work so well with your warm vest and of course your floppy hat.
ReplyDeleteNatalia, nice to see you again! I remember your post about leaving this blog and so, I stopped checking. And here you are! I am glad actually, always liked to see your creative outfits and to read your creative texts. You can't imagine how much I miss snow! The last time I could enjoy it was...mmm...15 years ago! I love this winter ensemble, looks elegant and comfy! Happy New Year to you and your family and may it bring only the good into your lives!
ReplyDeleteNatalia, you look positively adorable. I think this is one of my favorite looks. Somewhat folkloric with a touch of 70s boho. All the pieces work beautifully together. The people were staring because you are worth it!
ReplyDeleteI want to say yes about the writing. But if I don't submit a story right away, it's because I haven't mastered short stories, but would love to start.
DeleteI'd love you to join in! I've always enjoyed the genres of short stories and short-shorts, they come naturally to me, but I wouldn't say I mastered my writing - rather, it's a process of exploring and having fun! :)
Deleteput me firmly in the smiling camp! Love each piece, and adore the details. It looks like the boots are patch worked or color blocked! Love! The skirt is divine, and the vest and sweater work so well and look great.. The hat is the piece that stands outthe most, and is needed for the cold day you are braving!

Absolutely fabulous! How playful and gorgeous you look in your festive ensemble. Love your red hat and your smile. Thank you so much for sharing with Hat Attack and the very best to you in 2016!
ReplyDeleteI join the others in saying this is a fabulous outfit. The vintage knit skirt is beautiful and all your other pieces were made for it. I love your "snowball" concept. hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI also laughed about the glazed-over looks you get - here too. As long as you don't ask for money and aren't dangerous, they carry on. And those lovely people who SEE you, and you them. That's a joy.
That's a good point, Melanie. There are stylish people around - and yes, it's always great to recognize=appreciate each other!
Deleteyes, it's a fabulous outfit, love how nicely your sweater and skirt complement each other, such a lovely color combo and cool hat!
ReplyDeletebesos
I love how beautiful and pink cheeked you look in the snow. The glitter on your sweater and the pearl earrings are like extra snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow for about five minutes too. You must have rushed out to get photos before it all melted, eh? I have a skirt almost exactly like yours, but minus the great flowers at the bottom. :( You can see it here: http://www.sublimemercies.com/2015/11/liking-pink-child-slaves-secret.html
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I'm just too tired from pain to commit to your writing group but I think I might believe in magic. It feels like a miracle that Beau and I found each other. It makes me believe in magic or something like it.
Yeah, something like that :)) - you understand! Then of course, being all dressed up for the snow, I had to go out as well!
DeleteFeel free to write (a story, a personal essay) if you do have energy. I will open the link up on Jan 26th.
