Discoveries

One of my favorite things about Sunday nights is to sit down with my laptop and go through the pictures we took during the weekend. It brings me a delightful mix of feelings, both excitement and peace, and the feeling of satisfaction, to look at the photos, sort of re-live again and remember what we were up to - our little trips, events and, of course, outfits. One of my favorite things about this Summer has been a growing sense of finally finding my Summer style, or at very least the core of it (I know it will grow and develop infinitely from here, and that brings me so much joy just to think how much play is ahead of me!).

And one of my favorite finds of this year was the charming, romantic, whimsical collection with a strong old-world vibe, by Teresa for Eloquii. I was so taken with this collection that I dedicated the whole post to it (HERE). I would love to see more collaborations with this talented designer, I would wear her styles year-round! But for now, I am taking advantage of hot temperatures and wearing my summer pieces, and I am head over heels in love with this one.

Two things made me more comfortable with my Summer style: newly found pieces in natural fabrics, such as cotton and silk, and having more fun with accessories. I talked about it on the blog recently, and I will say it again. I did not used to play with accessories much. I was rather a minimalist in my style approach when I was younger and wore only a few selected jewelry pieces, mostly understated precious metals, and my shoe collection was very limited. I have expanded my footwear selection by far in the last few years (by my standards, of course), and I love having fun with costume jewelry now, and realize that accessories play a huge role in creating an outfit.

You've seen this Teresa for Eloquii dress styled for last month's Modish Matrons SAFARI themed post - and I think you'd agree that by adding colorful accessories, it goes to a whole new level, or maybe a completely new character.

Have you discovered something new about your style recently?

  2. I can see why you love that dress so much, Natalia, and I love how you are playing around with different accessories. I used to be much more minimalist in my accessories too, but my amazing blogging friends are constantly teaching me to be more adventurous. It's lovely to see that you are style is constantly evolving too, and that for now at least you have found the core of your own summer style. xxx

  3. The dress is so pretty. I love the idea of shirt dresses, but my hubs declared the one recent purchase too old looking, but yours has a nice youthfulness to it.

    1. Thank you, Sam! I can sincerely recommend Eloquii, they have tons of choices, and I like how they balance classic style with current trends. My other favorite is eShakti - don't be shy to try them! You will have to measure yourself for the best fit, but they give you a clear instruction how to do it. They also have a wide range of styles, and I just love their retro inspired dresses, look at this one for example - http://www.eshakti.com/shop/Dresses/Trapunto-hem-floral-print-belted-shirtdress-CL0050697 We don't have to look for youthful looking clothes, just for what looks best on us, and the accessories will do the rest. :)

A outfit without jewellery is like a home without a pet, incomplete and soulless! xxx

  7. what an elegant and lady like outfit! Simply perfect for Summer. The white dress is so well paired with brown accessories, shoes and hat. Something about this outfit makes me think of romantic films and early 20th century fashion.

Thank you for your message! I've been struggling with health issues this Summer ...but on the upper side, I made progress with my Russian studies and now I'm finally able to read books in Russian:).

  9. OF COURSE you're in love with this one, dearest Natalia! It's a great dress and you look lovely in it - no matter whether it is safari-style or (as here) in an more "urban" look!
The August-Theme of the Modish Matrons was a big challenge for me cause I don't have any clothes in the "sea look" with sailboats, fish and starfish or lighthouses or corals. I think you've seen that I linked older posts of a Croatia holiday on ship. At that time, I was wearing some kind of "classic navy colors" (means blue, white and red ;-)), so I think (or hope) this fits the topic. Today I participate with a dress in marine colors ...
Lots of hugs from very hot Austria,

  10. PS: Love your "hot" earrings!
PPS: Your dress is decorated with shells and starfish, I think it also would fit well to "sealife"!

    1. It's funny... Yes, it would fit, as a few other pieces from Teresa's collection. You know, when we came up with the topics for Modish Matrons, I did not have all these dresses etc. (by Teresa) with sealife all over them. :) I planned the topics last December (2016), and the collection was this past Spring (2017). Serendipity!
