Hold On, Indy!

There are times, when an outfit I create inspires where I want to go, and there are other times, when a place inspires my outfit. This was one of those other times. Justin suggested we go for a walk in the beautiful Tumwater Falls Park near Olympia, which was featured in my blog back in 2015 (posts Days Passed and Abandoned Beauty).

This magical place is full of photo opportunities and worth going out of your way to explore. It unmistakably evokes dreams of different eras and geographical places. And so was that sunny Saturday, the last day of April. My dreams took me to wild adventures, rather Indiana Jones-inspired.

I wanted to do denim on denim for a while now, but something off the beaten fashion path, so to speak. I took a structured denim shirt and soft tiered skirt, and added a light coat to this ensemble - a coat like this immediately suggests 1930s to me. I wish I had gloves and a little hat to add to my costume. Oh well, some day.

I like the juxtaposition of stiff denim vs. flowy chiffon, they play well, just like rocks and water play well in nature.

Just a few disarming accessories, and I am on my way.
Hold on, Indy, darling!

  2. That's a good last shot of Indiana Jones. He really does look like he's waiting for you. And why shouldn't he? You look so pretty. I like the strong with the soft, too. That coat is very pretty. And I love your denim top. Very cute. I used to live up in the Pacific Northwest and now I'm down in Southern California. The light in these photos is so perfectly Northwestern. I do really miss all that filtered green.

    1. I think it's actually rather a duster than a coat, but "a light summer coat" just sounds so romantic. :) Glad you liked my D+D, Alice!

  6. This is way better than conventional mainstreem denim on demim looks!!! Everyone is wearing a denim shirt with jeans, but denim blouse with a lovely denim skirt...it looks so much better...more feminine and chic. Your light coat is fabulous. I just love the details on the back, they make this coat look like a dress. Wonderful bag and wedges! Such a stunning look!!! You look divine!!! Perfect location too.

I must agree with Beate..Harrison Ford was never my type, but Sean Connery...well, who could resist that deep Scottish voice? I don't know why but people from Ireland, Wales and Scotland have amazing voices and often make for amazing singers. I love deep voices in man, quite contraty what is popular in pop music these days.

    1. Sean is the winner! I'm sure he'd be thrilled to know. He is a great charmer indeed, sly old dog. :)
I'm happy you like this outfit - it was so much fun to create and wear on that day. :)
      I'm with you on voices!

hi, just stopping by to thank you for your lovely comment. Community building is something that always repays and I know you're interested in culture too! It sometimes annoys me how people hang out in malls all the time all the time, but as they say to each their own. There are still pleanty of people who enjoy art and culture.

Ljubuški city was supposedly built by Croatian King Herceg for one of sweathearts, i.e. for his "ljubuška", hence the city name:). It seems he was, like Sean, quite popular with the ladies.;)

  7. Fabulous outfit, lovely shades and lovely denim on denim inspiration, that's way more interesting than usual jeans and shirt combos!, love your skirt (and your sandals too!).
I'm loving particularly that 30's vibe, your pleated silky coat and your pretty necklace!. Love many adventure films set in the 30's, but Indi is number one. And you rock!!

    1. Thank you, Monica! I am so glad that you get the 30s vibe - I went for it. To tell the truth, I watched Indiana Jones movies so many years ago... probably 20 if not more! I need to refresh my memories and watch again. But something made me think about Indy, and that's how any story begins, from a little detail. :)

How can I forget you? It's impossible! But it does take an effort to stay in touch. I like to let you know that I read your blog and admire you as much as I always did.

  11. Great denim on denim look and I love the chiffon with it! Perfect little twist there. And the analogy of rocks and water is so right. And you'd need a parasol to complete your look.
What a beautiful location to take the photos.
