Sunshine & Shine On Awards

Lovely Elsie of The Cooking Wardrobe nominated me among other amazing ladies for the Sunshine Award and the Shine On Award. Thank you! I am honored. And excited! Well, who doesn't like to talk about themselves, right? Not bloggers and certainly not me. By the guidelines of these awards, I have to write all together seventeen random facts about myself. Seventeen facts about me? Only seventeen? Hmm... which ones to choose... OK, I'll just see what comes to me today. And yes, I am going to combine them all together. All seventeen facts. So get comfortable, guys.
(Clearing her throat.)
Here goes!

17 random facts about me

1. Despite this fabulous blue linen hat, my favorite color is GREEN.
It also happens to be the color of my eyes. Just so you know.

2. This is my 6th or 7th public blog, but the first one in English, and the first one about style.

3. I don't like peanut butter.

4. Everything else, I like.

5. I have lived in 2 countries. And in 3 different states.

6. My favorite footwear is barefoot.

7. And "As Time Goes By" is my most favorite show. Ever.

8. I got married, immigrated, gave a birth, learned driving and speaking a new language all in one year.
(I could squeeze more things into my life that year, don't you think? Just ran out of time, I guess.)

9. I don't have TV at home for about 10 years or so.

10. I don't miss it.

11. I once owned a display at an antique mall.
(It's not my display in the photograph.)

12. My first earned money was for writing.
I was about 12 and published a few articles as a junior journalist for a local newspaper.

13. My favorite seasons are Spring and Autumn.
In fashion too - because of colors and layers!

14. I lived on the beach for 3 years.

15. Tooth fairy did not have a chance with me, poor creature.
I swallowed my first loose tooth while having pancakes for breakfast at grandma's house.

16. I worked as janitor, teacher, proofreader, junior medical assistant, research assistant, pharmacy technician, freelance journalist, translator, storyteller... phew, is that all? Oh, and a business owner. Twice.

17. I also volunteered. A lot.

18. (Sorry, had to do it.) I'm impatient. And stubborn.

Now, that was pretty random, don't ya think? As you noticed, I included photos of some of my outfits from previous years. I am a style blogger after all. Sort of.

Well, enough about me. Now I get to announce my own nominees for the Sunshine and Shine On awards. I have no idea what you "supposed" do if you are nominated multiple times. I guess it is totally up to you! :)

So, my nominees are:

Krista of Peetee's Palace

Sandra of Peaches McGinty

Northern Mom Down South of Thrifty, Crafty Things

Olga of Local Fashion

Val of Muse Fondue

Sacramento of Mis Papelicos

If you, dear ladies, accept these awards from me (or other fellow bloggers) and want to play this game, then you can read the guidelines below. I understand that these are two different awards, and I, just like Elsie, lumped them together. But you can do them separately if you wish! It's all pretty much up to us, right? :)

Rules of the Sunshine Award:
  • Use the logo below in the post.
  • Link to whoever nominated you.
  • Write ten pieces of information about yourself.
  • Nominate ten fellow bloggers “Who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere”

Rules of the Shine On Award:

  • Display the award logo on your blog
  • Show appreciation by acknowledging the blogger who nominated you and link back to them in your post.
  • Share 7 random facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 15 bloggers you admire and happily pass on this award, making sure to link their blog into your post.
  • Contact your chosen bloggers and let them know.

  3. Oh my goodness! I enjoyed this post so much and all your beautiful photos and kept reading things about you and thinking oh I am like that too. Then I nearly spat out my tea when I saw my name on your nomination list. Then I thought, oh no, do I know enough people to nominate and of course I am going to have to re-nominate some of the same people. LOL So my dear you made me happy and stressed all in one go but I still luv ya! And Beate is so right. You are really gorgeous, inside and out.

  4. Loved reading this, I find you utterly fascinating and would love to sit and share a pitcher of cocktails and learn even more. Fancy you being a professional writer since you were 12, it doesn't surprise me, you're a natural storyteller.

    1. You made my day, dear! :) I am really easy. You don't even need a pitcher of cocktails to get any info from me you want. I am sort of perpetually drunk by life at almost all times. :)

I can't wait to read your facts too - you are utterly fascinating yourself!

  6. So much fun to learn more about you! Love all the photos and learning that you started writing as a young girl. You have the gift. I am dyslexic myself and writing is difficult for me. So on that note, I'm going to decline writing for this nomination. It's challenging for me to write my posts. Thanks so much for nominating me. I am honored to be in this group of lovely ladies!

    1. I wouldn't guess that it is challenging for you to write, Ann! Honestly! You do great! But I don't mind that you won't write the facts - it's not for everyone, I understand totally. At the end, it is all just a game! :)

  7. I've read many "about me facts" in different blogs and have to tell you, Natalia, that yours are one of the most interesting to read. And I liked all those photos from the past years. And I noticed we have something in common - my eyes are green too, and my first money I got at the age of 12 by writing an article for a local newspaper, ha-ha, what a coincidence! Thank you for nominating my blog!

    1. I hope to read your facts about lovely self soon, Sandra! :)

I am really busy at times when I create and change. And I am not busy at all at times when I rest. Those are the two natural cycles I live. :)

  11. Wow! You've been a busy gal : )

I loved learning all these little tid bits about you and seeing your older photos. I love that we can see your gorgeous eyes here.

I found myself scratching my head and wondering...how is it possible someone doesn't like peanut butter??? LOL

Thanks for nominating me. These kinds of posts are always fun to write : )

    1. Yes, they are inspiring, aren't they? Of course, to us, writing people, anything is inspiring, we are just looking for an excuse to write! :)))

I think anything we did not grew up with can be on our off list. For instance, how do you find salty herring (not marinated one which is common in Canada)? I love it. Or anything we were forced to eat as kids can also very well be off for the rest of our life (like Beate with beetroot - I can't imagine that borsht has no chance with her!).

  12. Such gorgeous photos, Natalia, and it's always good to learn more about my favourite bloggers. You are a fascinating woman, I think we would talk non-stop if we met!
Now, thank you for nominating me, but I will confess upfront that I probably won't do my homework... I know, so naughty and rebellious! I like reading other people's facts but find it hard to summon up my own, at least all in one post. I think I tell you all everything as I go along anyway! But please know that I appreciate the nomination very much, you're so kind. xxxx

      I totally understand - after all, it's only a game! :)
