City, just as nature, is full of surprises. Take this little hand painted message which Justin spotted on a bush with bright red berries during our photo session. "Love can still win." Who wrote it? Who was the addressee? Was it a personal message or a social statement? I don't know the answers to these questions, but just like the artist who put thought and effort into this, I too want to believe that Love can still win, if we let it, no matter the situation.
You've seen this pleated red skirt recently (HERE; and earlier in APRIL 2017) - it seems I am in the mood for pleats lately. I believe that I showed this statement collar coat almost a year ago in MARCH 2017. It's not such a common thing nowadays, a statement collar, is it? My coat was designed by Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant, as well as these sunglasses, both have a nod to styles of the past which I adore. My accessories are genuine vintage - the chunky plastic earrings were found at Goodwill, and the metal and glass pin bought via Citizen Rosebud. Even though they are completely different styles and eras, I think the common colors and boldness of the design make them good companions in this ensemble. Note how these earrings play with the scale and pattern of my blouse (bonus!).
On to the blouse then. I showed it just once here on the blog in DECEMBER 2017 (scroll down to #4 "Originality" outfit). It has so many wonderful features - a lovely cut-out combined with a sort of a necktie, and the bold bishop sleeves or, in the words of gorgeous Vix, sleeves big enough to smuggle kittens.
I've finally found a solution for my often freezing in wintertime bum - fleece tights (and quite an elegant solution at that). And as you probably have noticed, I can't have enough of these clog-like platform shoes, they are bold, comfortable, and go with many styles.
On the non-sartorial side of things, Justin and I watched Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie by Lakewood Playhouse this past weekend, and we were really touched, they did great job with this play. Local folks, you still have a chance to catch one of the few last performances till March 11, don't miss! Tickets HERE.
All things are remixed from my closet.

ReplyDeleteVery cute this little message in the bush. ❤️
Huge hug Tina
Thank you, my dear Tina! <3
DeleteThat black, white and red is such a classic and with the small print and the pleats and sleeves it is elevated again. I love the tie neckline too. Your hair sings forth in these shots!!

Thank you, my lovely JJ! <3
Deletedo you know what i love most? how you made the "cool" black&white with red to your very own with the warm hues of bag and shoes - which echo your fabulous hair color! :-)
ReplyDeleteall the special "statement" details make this look very playful - all the fine fabric doing moving ornaments around you........ wonderful!
i´m craving for some theater/opera/ballet - and i have another tip for freezing bums: do not wear cotton undies, synthetic microfibre are better (that from me who usually avoids petrol-fabrics!!)
:-D
huge hugses & lots of love! xxxxxx
Thank you, my darling Beate! I will keep your advice in mind. <3
DeleteYou rock this classic color combo!, you look so lovely and elegant!. I love those earrings and brooch (you're right, their bold design enhances the print of your blouse), great accessorizing and such fabulous sleeves! (Vix rules!)
ReplyDeleteAnd it's lovely that someone let a little message in the bushes, and it was a positive and heartwarming message, instead of letting some kind of trash!. Well done!
besos
It was definitely an artistic statement. Thank you, my dear Monica! <3
DeleteKitten stealing sleeves! It's a gorgeous blouse and the whole look just makes me smile. And yes, love can still win. In fact, it may be the only way, xox

Thank you, dearest Patti! I couldn't agree more - it is the only way, in fact! <3
DeleteFinding that note must have been heartwarming! What a lovely gesture. Almost as lovely as your amazing outfit. I'm loving your red pleated skirt, and the interplay of black and white is just stunning. The pairing of the blouse and the earrings is very clever. That blouse is a work of art, by the way, so many lovely details. Your coat is very special, too, I'm loving a statement collar. Collars and buttons are often the things that win me over when out shopping. I'd have loved to see that Tennessee Williams play! Huge hug xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, darling Ann! I am so happy that you enjoyed my combination. It's one of my own favorites for now. <3
DeleteThis outfit is seriously so cute!!! I love the blouse, the coat, skirt, accessories... The local play sounds wonderful and that sign is the inspo I needed today <3
ReplyDeleteThank you much!!! I hope your day and the whole week go extremely well! <3
DeleteI made a coat with a similar collar for a Barbie doll. I love statement collars and especially so when it comes to coats. I also love patterns...so you can imagine how much I love your coat. The way you styled it is perfect. The blouse and the red skirt make for a beautiful pairing as well. You look stunning!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely is that message. Yes, I believe it as well. Love can still win. As Tennessee Williams said in Camino Real-' the violets in the mountains have broken the rocks'...Violets can still break the rocks, love can still win.
What a beautiful quote! I love that, I recognized it from my uni studies!!
DeleteI am happy that you love this coat, and it's amazing that you made a similar one for your Barbie! It's such a classic, will always be in style!

We should go out in our kitten-smuggling sleeves and see how many cats we can capture!
ReplyDeleteThat blouse is glorious, I love its 1970s vibe and - of course, the crazy sleeves! xxxx
Haha, I imagine us catching kitties! :)))
DeleteSo glad that you loved this, my dear! <3
