Restoration

A few things happened in the last few days. I dropped my laptop, the body of which was already partly broken, and now it seems like something got messed up where the power comes in, so my computer can only work on batteries. To recharge it, Justin sort of babysits the whole thing almost every night while we watch movies together - he holds my computer's hand to recharge it, so I have a little time to write or browse online the next day. Very little though, because after a couple of hours, the computer needs babysitting again. That's why I haven't been posting and reading and commenting much lately.

We had a few sunny and warm days, and took a few wonderful walks in absolutely wonderful and inspiring places. During such times I know that everything is well, and even if I never create anything new at all - I still will be living a fulfilling and worthy life.

We were invited to a party to meet our new neighbors (or rather, we are the new neighbors whom all the little neighborhood came to meet), in a place which we have chosen to be our next home - hopefully, for a long time. The party was very informal, the people were very thoughtful and sweet, and my necklace got compliments (I know, it's pretty gorgeous).

I visited my hairdresser, my beautiful Erica, with whom, as I have recently realized, I have the longest relationship of all the new people I've met here in the PNW since we moved here in 2007. Every visit to Erica is not just getting a fresh haircut, it is restorative to my soul - and that is what I need a lot these days, my soul restoration, healing from very deep wounds. I started smiling again - I started recognizing myself in the new photos, and that's a good sign.

There was so much sun.

And there were eagles, and seals, and seagulls waiting to have their portrait taken. (One seagull in particular.)

And the moon was also there.

Blazer and sweater - Lane Bryant. Skirt - Old Navy. Necklace - Talbots. Shoes - Dansko.

  1. I pressed the publish button and everything I'd written just vanished. So annoying! Anyway...Дубль два...As always beautiful photographs of your surroundings, Natalia! Enjoy seeing them. I love the colour combination of this outfit - warm browns and purple, nice! The polka dot blazer is a real beauty as well as the necklace. Lovely photo of you and your daughter. Sorry to hear about your laptop.

    1. Blogger is goofy this way sometimes. Thank you, Olga! The color is rather warm gray (or heather gray as they call it here). Justin does a wonderful job taking photographs - I'll tell him that you enjoy the photos, he will appreciate!

  2. As always, the photos are gorgeous (Justin has a good eye for beauty!) I particularly love the shot of the harbour with the snow-capped mountain in the background, the seagull, the moon, and the beautiful close-ups of you.
Your hair does look great, I love the colour against the pink sweater. I feel that a trip to my lovely hairdresser is therapeutic too! Good to see your lovely Anya, and how nice to have a get together with the neighbours - they will love you, I'm sure! xxx

    1. Thank you, my dear Curtise! Justin is thrilled to receive so many compliments. He is very artistic indeed, this lovely boy! :) I am glad that you mentioned our mountain - it is actually a volcano, Mt Reinier, one of very famous National Parks in the US. You can see the volcano from pretty much anywhere in the greater Seattle.
We are lucky girls to have such wonderful hairdressers!! Hugses!

  3. Goodness me, you are a beautiful woman and your hair shows off your face to a tee. Your daughter is growing up to be an equal beauty.
The photos, the colours and the scenery are gorgeous and so's that necklace. I'm sorry to hear of your computer woes. Don't they cause an upset when they're playing up? Ours is on it's last legs, too! xxx

    1. You always say just the thing to make me smile! Thank you, Vix! I am sure Anya will be even a greater beauty. :)))
Computers like us - they need a break sometimes, and someone needs to hold their hand. Very much like us. It's not convenient. But so are we - aren't we inconvenient at times? :) Hugses!

  5. Oh no, computer problems are the worst. Your hair looks lovely! Wonderful cut and color. I feel the same about my hairstylist, a good friend that I enjoy spending time with. It is beautiful where you live and these pictures are great. Bold and capture a solid feeling. Lovely necklace and great color on your sweater.

    1. Thank you, Ann! I feel like light summery tops - a bit tired of sweaters, to tell the truth. But these are such fun colors - I don't mind to wear them for just a bit longer. :) I am fascinated how many women feel the same about computer problems... and about our hairdressers! :) Glad that you stopped by, I am always happy to chat with you!

  8. So happy you're smiling again because it definitely becomes you! Love your style and that fresh new haircut looks amazing! My hair is quite long but I've always admired those who can pull off a short style. And as others have noted, your daughter is beautiful!

  9. What a feast this post is, for the eye and heart! Thank you Natalia ... so sorry you are having computer problems. I baby mine along because I'd perish without it these days. You look completely beautiful in your very concise outfit. Not too much, not too little, an elegance of restraint. Pretty necklace on you, so you deserved every compliment.
I identify with your comments about your relationship with your hair stylist. I often imagine that I'm actually smarter after I get my hair cut. That the removal of the split ends and awkward regrowth takes some of the stupid with it!
Your daughter is a beauty, isn't she? Has her mama's good looks.
I'm heartened by your comment about achievement. Nothing I'll ever create will change any world but my own, but that's something real, I'm inspired by your posts.

    1. About achievements... The fun is in the game, really! I enjoy creating my own games and playing them. That is my fun. I am just not an achievement sort of gal!
Thank you for your kindest words, Jan! I think Anya is a pretty good mix of her parents, her dad is a good looking guy, and she looks like him a lot, but she definitely got softer features from me. :)
Justin said that's how he feels after a hair cut too - smarter! :)
We just need healthy computers, don't we? :)

  10. You are such a stunner, but I am seeing that you are a beautiful person too. Your daughter is as lovely looking as you are! The invisible Justin sounds a perfect sweetheart and he takes beautiful photos. You and your blog are such a delight! I'm so glad we met.

    1. Oh Shawna, you just made me soooooooooooooo happy!!! Thank you very much for your amazing comment! I am very happy that we met too! I read your blog last night, and was thinking the same things! :)
Justin is invisible in the last posts, but in the beginning of the blog (which was just last Fall), he was very very visible! He's amazing, unique, kind, talented, deep, funny, extremely supportive, and I love him soooo very much. I wouldn't be where I am now without him. I wish everyone has such a strong connection and support, because that helps us to become who we really are inside! And that's why friendly support and community support is so important! Women need other women - sincere and open-hearted friends. It makes me teary when I think what an incredible feedback you leave me here. Thank you for that!
