Rare Gem: Teresa Maccapani Missoni for Eloquii

All the photos are from Eloquii.com, and you can shop this amazing collection HERE.

I don't write fashion reports or anything like it, ever, but today I'm making an exception, because I almost EXPLODED with joy and excitement when I saw this collection! I think I actually was jumping up and down and promised my husband I'd be the best wife on the planet earth if I can have some of these pieces (uh-oh). So of course I decided to write about it because I just have to share - and Justin heard it all, twice, or rather three or four or five times by now! Created by Teresa Maccapani Missoni, granddaughter of the famous Missoni founders, especially for Eloquii, the plus size fashion forward company, it offers 22 pieces (24 if you count two different colors for a couple of pieces in the collection) for women wearing sizes 12 to 28.

Sometimes I hear that a collaboration with a talented designer is coming up, and I anticipate it, but this collection took me by surprise - it seems it was kept in secret till the last moment (though, I don't follow fashion news and I might just miss out on stuff like that).

First of all, there are just not that many high end fashion designer collaborations who work with plus size brands (which is rather unbelievable... the opportunities are endless!), so every collection is a remarkable event for us plus size girls. And secondly, this capsule collection is beyond words amazing! It is by far my most favorite collection created for plus size women that I know of (though Isabel Toledo for Lane Bryant comes very close). It features pure silk, cotton, hand crochet, embroidery, vibrant colors and gorgeous prints. And as the designer herself put it, she was struck by how what's been created for plus size up to this point, had an almost singular focus on trends. Yes! I couldn't agree more! Thank goodness Teresa saw it as an opportunity to create something radically different - something unique and fresh, and at the same time... my favorite word... TIMELESS! (Again, a parallel with Toledo's collections for plus size which I adore exactly for that reason, a combination of new and timeless.)

I picked a few of my strong favorites from Teresa's collection to show on my blog. If I could, I would buy them all! Her pieces, in my opinion, are a unique blend of feminine sensuality and innocence. And this combination is rare and very touching to me, perhaps because it's how I feel myself, a sensual woman and a curious child all at the same time.

It's a limited edition collection, and pieces are selling very fast (some of them were completely sold out in just a couple of hours, sadly), so if you would like to own any of these beauties, just a word of advice, don't hesitate! I just can't get over how gorgeous, charming, feminine, fresh this collection is. I have a confession to make. Until today, I had no idea I had it in me! I knew I had an interest in style, and there were pieces that I liked very much and even loved, but this collection just completely melted my heart - I'm in love! It makes me want to crochet a charming little top and go to a flea market searching for a forgotten old-fashioned treasure. And of course, travel to all the countries in the world, but that isn't news to me.

This was the first Eloquii designer collaboration, and I can only say bravo, bravo, bravo! I have to say the photography is quite amazing here too - the photos look like stills from old movies, and everything tells a story here - the pieces, the outfits (amazing accessories!), the model, the photographs.

  1. as a fashion pro: this is the most beautiful collection from a non-couture-house i saw in ages!!
actually it looks totally haute couture!!!!
i love the "nacked" tops - the time ist so ripe for this after years of false prudery. and of couse the fabric - sensational! the timeless cuts are exactly what i love to wear since years and if one can not buy this gorgeous pieces it should be easy to recreate the looks with 2.hand pieces.....
what i will do! actually i have such a beige crochet top but with a butterfly at the front - have it for eons, it came from very past times to me, maybe 40s? and it is time to wear all the shirtwaist dresses again and some exotic jewelry :-)
thank you natalia, for that infusion with fashion galore!!!! <3 <3 <3

    1. Beate, I am soooo happy to share this with you - I was overwhelmed yesterday and I just had to share! I am so pleased that you appreciate this gem, and I am not surprised at all - I think Teresa is your younger sister, a soul sister. I was thinking of you when I looked at these dresses and skirts and blouses, especially the way they styled it for the photo session, with what I believe are Teresa's finds (jewelry), so beautiful and unexpected, and very YOU! And I learned to appreciate this feminine style and luxurious fabrics, I can now say that this is a huge part of who I am as well! I've never felt so connected with fashion designs before, so alive in that sense, only a couple of times when I watched D&G and a very few other collections in the past, so I get your haute couture reference - it is ART in this case, truly wearable art!

      Much love, my dear!

    1. Lottery! I love the way you think, Tina! :) I am amazed, that this collection was created especially for women like you and me - it's a rare precedent. Maybe you have more amazing designers in Europe who work for plus sizes (Marina Rinaldi with her luxurious fabrics comes to mind), but here it's rare, especially with such a sense of femininity and history and travels blended all in one - it's simply genius!

      Much love!

    1. Well, silk dresses are a bit out of my price range, but I couldn't resist a couple of cotton pieces that I absolutely LOVE, now I keep my fingers crossed - hope they'll fit me! But just as Beate said, just looking at this luxurious collection makes me want to create something with the pieces I already own, like an eylet skirt - I just need a warmer weather for that. :)

  6. Wpw, these pieces are exquisite and bold, and so YOU!
I am so glad they are available, but this could hit your wallet big time! Still I hope to see you wearing these.
Love this: sensual women + curious child - an apt description as well as a poetic one!

  8. This editorial is so artistic and beautiful. I wish there were more editorials like this one, editorials that celebrate the natural femininity of women. Today a lot of editorials are too aggressive for my liking.

The clothes features are amazing. It is a stunning collection. It is a shame that there aren't more plus size collections out there...not to say anything of the fact that what they call plus size is actually an average woman's size.
