Winter Woollies and Movies

Another rainy week in Seattle (Tacoma too), and another woolly, cozy, but still feminine outfit, that I wore on one of these drizzly days. On the bright side, Patti of Not Dead Yet Style has picked one of my recent outfits among others in her post FIVE FAB INSTAGRAMS OF THE WEEK, IN LEOPARD, RED AND BLACK - I feel so honored!

There is nothing especially new in this outfit, but the combination itself. The wool/mohair coat was previously shown just recently in DECEMBER 2017, and the dress in OCTOBER 2017.

In case you're looking for more movie recommendations, you've come to the right place. Other than Phantom Thread, in January, Justin and I also watched The Post (directed by Steven Speilberg, starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks) and Darkest Hour (directed by Joe Wright, starring Gary Oldman, absolutely sensational in this role). Both are made masterfully, with artistic attention to detail which all of us visual types appreciate. Both are based on historic events (USA and England respectively). Darkest Hour touched me deeper, and I think it's because it is told from a more personal point of view. But they both are excellent, and I would recommend without any reservation.

Back to my wintry look. The hand-crocheted wool scarf was a gift from Justin, and kept me warm inside and out for many winters. The hand-painted enamel earrings are traditional Russian craft (bought via eBay over a dozen years ago), and the hand-made jasper bracelet was a gift from friends, also years back.

January is coming to an end, and I am looking forward to the next moth, and the new MODISH MATRONS link-up. What will my talented friends come up with next? Come back soon to find out!

Everything is remixed from my closed
Dress - eShakti
Coat - Navabi
Scarf - Garnet Hill
Hat - Lane Bryant
Boots - Josef Seibel
Purse - B Makowsky
Earrings - from Russia
Bracelet - gift from friends

  1. Natalia, don't worry.... it's still raining here for weeks. Normaly we have little rainy days.
You look amazing in these style, I love the colours so much. This scarf from Justin is so cute. You remember me... I bought a movie last week on DVD but I had no time to watch it. It is also with Meryl Streep.
I wish you a wonderful week Natalia with sunny ☀️ days. Huge hug Tina

    1. Cats and dogs, cats and dogs all over us! I love rain and don't usually mind it, but give me some sunshine just sometimes, for a change. :) What Meryl Streep movie did you get? I love this actress!

  3. What a beautiful outfit! I really like that green dress- the pattern is simply stunning. I love how you accessorized it. Wonderful earrings, bag, scarf & beanie. The coat is very much to my liking as well. I love to see colours in Winter. These earthly colours you have on today seem perfect for Winter.

We had a lot of rainy day too...but for the last day or two the weather has turned. From what I see, our Monday will probably be a very sunny one.

I enjoyed reading your movie recommendations. I love historical films and these two caught my attention.

    1. Thank you, Ivana! I love this funky beanie too, it surprisingly goes with almost everything I own - green coats, orange coats, leopard coats etc.

I think you'll enjoy these movies, they are incredibly well made and explore some seemingly little, but changing the course of history events.

    1. Thank you for such a warm comment, Patti! I think especially on days when I feel vulnerable, it is important to "wear my truth" - the colors, the shapes, the combinations that seem authentic.

  6. I'm loving the colours of your outfit, which is making my heart sing. Your dress is super cute - fit for a wood nymph! - and your crocheted scarf and cosy woolly hat are just perfect with it. I will watch out for Darkest Hour - big Gary Oldman fan too - but I'll wait until it's on DVD. I'm not a fan of the cinema, generally finding the sound too loud for my delicate ears. That last photo of you is just fabulous! Lots of love and a huge hug xxx

    1. Thank you, dear Ann!

Oh yes, the sound can be way too much, especially during commercials. But if I really want to see a movie, I love to see it on a big screen - after all, movies are meant to be seen on a big screen, it is in the art form. Sometimes we even go to see old movies when they show them at cinema, such fans we are!

  7. Yes I have my eye on these movies too, once they leave the cinema.
I love your hat shape it adds an interesting element. And I really can't see much past that amazing scarf. Must have taken ages to work! These colours suit you so well and must warm up your Winter months.

    1. Thank you, my lovely friend! I had my eye on this scarf and hinted to my sweetie that I know of a perfect gift for me (I think it was around Xmas, ages ago)... soon I received a package with this beautiful 100% wool scarf! My daughter's teacher saw it on me and commented, I gave up my source, but the scarf was sold out... she was heart broken! Then Anya made a collage for her with her portrait and a picture of that scarf in it (cut from a catalog)... what do you know, soon the scarf reappeared in a store, so she was able to buy it too! She was over the moon! Such is the power of our dreams and imagination, and collective visualization and stuff like that! :)

    1. Such a fun store! I only made one purchase from them, it's a bit over my budget (even their sale is pricey), but the quality is superb! So much better than what I usually get here.

  11. Dearest Natalia,
these autumnal colors are wonderful to you. (And I know that these colors are good for me as well :-)) I already liked the dress when I saw it for the first time - and in the pattern mix with coat and accessories it looks different, just like ANOTHER beautiful dress. The scarf and the cap are also adorable ("wannahaves" ;-))!
I've heard a lot of good things from The Darkest Hour - isn't it unbelievable that THIS is Gary Oldman! ;-)) The movie The Post is new to me - but now I have read that it will be released at the end of February in German cinemas ....

    1. Dear Traude, I hope you enjoy these movies! I am really pleased with the pre-Oscar season this year, 3 excellent movies to my liking so far, almost unheard of. I predict Gary Oldman getting an Oscar for his performance, but of course I don't know who are his competitors. But he was remarkable.

I am glad you enjoyed the outfit. You and I have similar coloring and love similar colors! :)

  13. I love this paisley dress with the crocheted scarf. It’s a fabulous combination and I was struck with how similar the color story is to the outfit that you wore on your last post. These warm colors really suit you. !
I saw you on Patti’s post, yay you! Looking beautiful and chic!
I loved the Post, I have not yet seen the others.
I thought the acting was exemplary, and the theme so well suited to current events.

And I couldn't agree more about your comment on The Post! It was definitely a timely message to the contemporary situation. That's why I guess we need learning from history, so we don't make the same mistakes all over again!
Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are my favorite actors - I don't think I've seen them together before.

  14. You astonish me in that you can look both stunningly dramatic and also cute and adorable, two looks that don't seem possible in one person. I love the colours and textures in this outfit and the whole vibe is absolutely cosy! xoxo

    1. Thank you, Shawna! I love the way you put it in words. I don't think I've ever heard anything like it from anyone or about anyone else, and I really appreciate that you notice it - it sounds rather unique and rings true. I definitely don't try it on purpose, I think it just comes naturally. <3
