As you can tell, my new wool berets quickly became my favorite headwear (I soon will show you the other color that I got... can you guess what it is?). Another strong favorite of this Fall is this rust plaid dress by eShakti, made of cozy brushed cotton and fully lined (the style and fabric is similar to the skirts you've seen before, last time in my posts about Portland back in April 2018 HERE and HERE). I wore this dress sleeveless when the weather was warmer earlier this season, but now it is wet, blustery and penetrating - just perfect for layering with turtlenecks! (I guess it is time to refresh my stock with other pretty colors too.)
I don't really have much news to share as it was a bumpy ride in the family with everyone catching a virus for three weeks in a row. But I have been working on something and will definitely share when I'm ready. I also have finally got my gold rings to a jeweler for resizing - I've been wanting to do it for years! Now I wear my rings all the time, they bring back memories. This white gold and diamonds rings was Justin's gift years ago, when our romance was young, and I've always loved this design, a combination of traditional filigree and contemporary geometrical shapes. The hand-painted enamel filigree set is traditional Russian craft, an ebay find that's been in my collection for many years as well. (Click on the two photos below if you'd like to enlarge the images and see details even better. Don't mind if you also notice a cat's hair or two - in our family, no outfit is completed without cat's hair.)
Some of you who read my blog long enough might remember this coat, also by eShakti - one of a handful of the free things I got in my blogging history. I had an opportunity to customize it which I did, both in size and in style. When I first received it, I remember having some reservations about this coat, but I now I don't regret getting it even a bit - it really found its own place in the retro section of this writer's closet! I appreciate its color, texture and pattern which allows for a subtle pattern mix - bonus!
I really started thinking that in their own time, things find their partners in our wardrobes, and we shouldn't be in a rush to get rid of stuff just because. A full wardrobe takes much more time for maintenance, as well as patience for finding the right solutions for storage, and I am definitely not a fine example of either. But I really enjoy having options and opportunity to play with my stuff, creating almost infinite combinations, and if sometimes it takes a year or two to warm up to a new thing, that's okay by me.
My partner in crime, who often makes an effort to coordinate his outfit with mine (his own initiative, by the way - I have nothing to do with it), this time outdid himself by putting together a very cute look with a rusty orange plaid shirt and slate gray puffy vest. We had dinner at the local Red Robin - Justin ordered a fish sandwich, and I had a vegetarian burger (yum!), with their famous onion rings tower and mojito. And I'm pretty sure we were the cutest couple on the town that evening, or at very least, top 5. Okay, I don't want to be mean - agreed to top 10! I'm sorry, what did you say? Top 100?
Dress and coat - eShakti (different years)

hugest hugs & much love! xxxxxx
Thank you, dear Beate! It makes us happy that you vote for our couple! :)
DeleteI'll reveal the other beret SOON! ;)
Love!
Yes a cute couple. I love your dress and coat. The coat reminds me of one I had back in the late seventies. I do agree with keeping an item for a while and then a light bulb goes off and you think, yes this really does go with this. Also agree with the time it takes to put together items when you have limited storage space and the time it takes to coordinate it all. I do like your style.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words! I'm glad that we think alike! I'd love to see that 70s coat of yours!

I'm loving your rust plaid dress and even more because it looks fabulous with that cat! perfect match!. And I totally agree that some clothes need some time to find their place or their perfect companion in our wardrobes, it's better to let them rest for a while and not discard them too quickly.
ReplyDeleteYou look totally adorable! cutest couple for sure!
besos
Thank you, Senora! It would be sad to get rid of some of the items just because we didn't find the right match immediately - they are worth waiting for!!

Don't be modest, Natalia, you definitely are THE cutest couple. You're looking absolutely gorgeous in your rust coloured plaid dress and polo neck. Your necklace and earring set are stunning, and so of course is the ring Justin gave you. He's got taste! It goes without saying that I love your beret. Might your other one be mustard? Oh, do tell me. I do agree that some items of clothing have to grow on you. I have things in my wardrobe which I haven't worn yet, as I'm still waiting for inspiration to strike on how/what to pair them with. It's all to easy to give up and discard these. That coat has now finally found its companion! Lots of love xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Ann! You are so very kind! Mustard would be awesome to add to my little collection of hats - it's one of my favorite shades of green!

What a cute couple you are!
ReplyDeleteI love you in those colours - they're just so you! I bet your other beret is in a spicy shade, too. I remember you not being entirely won over by the length of that coat but with that dress it couldn't be more perfect. xxx
Thank you, dear Vix! I'm happy that the coat found just the right spot within my closet, and this dress is a hit paired with it! The color reveal is coming up soon!

Thanks so much , my dear. Little better with lots of medication. Orbitopathia is a thing from hell.Hugs a lot!
DeleteI do think you two would have to be the cutest and best dressed couple in town. I do remember your coat , it is just perfect with this dress. I agree about keeping items that aren't right just now as they invariably come in to their own with the right pairings. You know I do love a beret.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my dear!
DeleteI do like that coat, it's very unique. The dress is a dream and it fits you perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you were the cutest couple indeed, especially since you were style coordinated.
Thank you, dear Ivana!
