Modish Matrons #28: Colorblocking...Colorblogging!

Hello lovely friends and dear readers, and welcome to October Modish Matrons! This month's theme is Colorblocking...Colorblogging! offered by gorgeous Tina (as you might know, we rotate each month). As soon as I learned what the theme was, I thought of this fabulous skirt, and the rest of the outfit came together spontaneously.

Please visit my fantastic friends TINA und BEATE
to see their takes on the theme!

At the end of September, we were spoiled by glorious Indian Summer days with temperatures close to mid 70s F which are my favorite summer temperatures, to tell the truth. I thought I would wear this skirt with a lacy blouse during that week, but life got super busy, and we were able to take pictures only this past weekend, when the temps dropped to mid 60s F. Which is totally fine because I really didn't feel like lace, and I wanted to wear this old sweater which is in my wardrobe for 10 years or more. It's made of 100% cotton, so it wasn't hot. I love the rich color, pattern, buttons on the tall collar, and I always, always, always loved this sweater, and I always, always, always will. I decorated it with a sparkly leopard pin, and put on my sparkly socks yet again!

The faux leather moto jacket is by Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant a few years back (previously shown in MARCH 2018, MAY 2017, JUNE 2016 HERE and HERE). I often (if not always) pair this jacket with black sunglasses by the same designer. I absolutely love the way the net sleeves and back show off the color of the top, but I think it's the first time I wore this jacket with a sweater. For obvious reasons, it won't protect from rain or wind, but it isn't purely a fashion piece - it adds a welcomed additional layer in this kind of weather when it's dry outside (light sprinkles are fine too).

Finally, the skirt! I bought it secondhand earlier this year. I even remember when it was out at Lane Bryant 4 or 5 years ago. I was mostly still into pencil skirts back then and didn't appreciate this piece (plus, blue was my least favorite color for many years). But now I am so happy to own it! I think it's so striking and fabulous for making a statement... and of course,
for twirling!

Happy October!

    1. Thank you, my dear Beate! And I read about both Mondrian and Courreges, it was fascinating! Thanks for introducing me to them. I remembered a little bit about Mondrian regarding to Yves Saint Laurent, but Courreges was new to me. <3

  5. You're looking gorgeous in your colourful autumnal outfit! That skirt, for starters, is absolutely divine. And then, of course, it's also twirling heaven! Wearing it with the snugly chunky burnt orange jumper was the perfect choice, and adding the biker jacket makes it quite edgy, especially with those see-through sleeves and back. Mission accomplished, that's for sure! Lots of love xxx
