Online Style Party: How I Wear My... Coat

Jill of Everything Just So and Adrienne of The Rich Life on a Budget will co-host another monthly "online party" tomorrow, and I am participating again! I can't wait to see all the gorgeous women and all their gorgeous coats. Make sure that you don't miss it too - check out both blogs tomorrow!

I love wool coats. Living in Russia, it is definitely a necessity, and you get tired of wearing a coat every single day for a bigger part of the year (nine months, more or less). It's different in Seattle. One sure can live without a wool coat (not so much without a raincoat and a parka though). It is rather a luxury to have a wool coat here. I told you the story of one almost vintage coat, let's say retro coat, which was hand made by my gifted aunt Rimma many years ago, and I still sometimes wear it (the whole story here). I bought my next wool coat only 15 years later, and it was a pea-coat (I have to say I was rather seduced by Justin - you can see the coat here and here). And now this one. I love everything about it. This coat feels like me! I was surprised when even my mom said so (she looks at my blog entries in Russia! Привет, мам! :)

Coats are good, and so are goats - even the toy goats, aren't they adorable? I guess in a village where there are plenty of little farms like here on Bainbridge Island, there is nothing surprising about seeing a toy goat in a shop window. It made Justin smile. :)

This was in another village shop - a rug store owned by super friendly Turkish guys. Another part of their business, gemstone and costume jewelry. We couldn't leave without a purchase. Their jewelry guy found just the right agate bracelet (carved from the whole piece of rock) and sparkly agate necklace in lovely orange color. I was very satisfied with the purchase, and it cost us only $20 or $25 a piece.

I styled the coat in a simple way that time - dark wash straight leg jeans and comfy walking shoes in bright violet color. I also wore my most favorite scarf ever - but you can hardly see it on these pictures. (It is probably an accessory which receives the most compliments every time I wear it.) All together, it was a perfect outfit for a stroll in town on a sunny January weekend. :)

Wool coat by Lands' End (here on sale in a few different vibrant colors, in regular, tall and plus sizes). Scarf - Garnet Hill (old). Jeans by Chico's (old). Shoes by Dansko. Purse by B Makowsky.

Location: Bainbridge Island

    1. Then you would be in heaven in this shop! They have a wonderful fun collection of natural stone jewelry (semi-precious) as well as glass jewelry, and we found their prices very fair. :)
